Konomi Takeshi (the author of manga "Prince of Tennis") announced in a TV program that he will release a single CD "Tenipuri tte Iina/Smile" on August 19th. He not only sings the three songs included in the CD but also wrote and composed two of the songs for himself. He said he would have tried for a professional singer if he had not become a mangaka. An extra chapter of "New Prince of Tennis" will be bundled with the single CD. He will sing the songs in front of the fans at "Tenipuri Festa 2009" to be held on September 6th. Successful artists in one medium believing that instantly translates into interest or ability in another is typically a sign of delusion and losing perspective. Don't get me wrong; good for this guy in pursuing something else he's interested in, and passionate about. But including a CD with a new chapter of his manga? What about his fans that want to read the next installment of his story, but have no interest in his music? |

It's an extra chapter, nothing to do with the original storyline, an.. uhm.. Omake (if I'm correct?). So for the people who read it because of the story, won't be bothered, I know I won't. |

ohhh japan celebrities and how they are multi-talented :) I'm suprised a mangaka is doing the multi-talent thing though! (Usually its actors/singers/etc) I hope he's a good singer :o |

By your logic, if you want to see "Terminator 4", then you're fine paying $20 instead of $10 if they also threw in a random CD by a debut singer? |

He already sang with Ryoma's seiyuu, and his voice is pretty nice. I'm looking forward to it. |

Hehe. He's the second mangaka that I know of who's done this. Urasawa was first. |
