It had kind of a slow start, but it's getting really good now.

How's the anime adaptation compared to this? I think I'm going to watch it when I'm caught up with the manga.

Unfortunately the anime adaptation was not good at all. Timeline in anime adaptation was a complete mess, it started from half of the manga and only had flashbacks of events that happened before.
Some things have been changed from manga, so it kind of changed the meaning a little.
Anime adaptation lost those beautiful moments between Yuzuki and Haruto at the beginning and centered more on the weird love triangle that starts around chapter 85.

About the manga, the 70 first chapters were good, then got a bit messy with some really weird drama. If you are willing to drop it before Yuzuki go back to Tokyo, I would suggest you do it, and just read the ending that is coming this weekend.
Pretty much after chapter 140, KNIM become a slice of life centered on Haruto's future (studies, job....), not that bad, but definetly not as good as the beginning.

Don't bother with the anime. It was an absolute train wreck in trying to adapt the manga. There were so many holes in the anime that it was like a whole new episode everytime you watched it. The only episode worth seeing is probably the finale that they'll air later.

Stay away from the anime. They pack about 80 chapters in 12 episodes so it feels really rushed. You miss so much stuff in between the story's mile-stones that these important events seem shallow even thought they aren't supposed to.

Plus the animation is crap, the chara design is far away from the original, music is meh. Only ok parts are background art sometimes and some of the seiyuus where well chosen (like Haruto for instance... which wasn't difficult since they kept the guys from the first two OAD).

If you're a complete fan, and have some time to kill, maybe. But still...

By the way, the first two OAD (KNIM Tasogare Kousaten), while short are not badly writen. I kinda liked them.

The anime is only there for people who have read the manga as it leaves the beginning out.

Though at least its over quickly enough unlike the manga.
