Too much nonsensical melodrama. Almost laughed even due to how random and out of place it was.

I don't watch as much anime as before...

Same, I just watched with a straight face the whole time... no change in reaction.

Nah man I didn't cry either. Angel beats was somewhat confusing and random. Nagi no asukara and anohana are much better. Oh yeah and the saddest death in my opinion is in guilty crown.

Wow. WOW. This is why you should never make comparisons with other anime when making those kinds of posts.

Angel Beats = confusing and random
Guilty Crown = ??????????????????????????

I don't know why, but I don't cry either while watching sad anime even though I know that a lot of people cried during the specific scene. I just can't bring myself to cry lol

I knew it's supposed to be sad but I just couldn't cry of that either.
And it kinda amazed me how people like Kanade and Iwasawa that much with how few their scripts was.

Kanade one of the most overated character ever... she not do anything for the fans and get so many fav. Only reason why her get fav because she is the main character and the anime is overated...

If there was more character development I might have cried at the end but seeing as how there wasn't very much on every character it wasn't enough to push me to tears. It was a sad ending I have to admit though even if the get reincarnated.

I sobbed like a friggin baby at the ending, and there were a couple other scenes (especially the thing with Yui) I probably would've cried to if I wasn't in such a state of drowse from pulling an all nighter that they could've hit my feels to the full extent.

That said, I was an anime scrub when I watched this, so I didn't go into it expecting "omg i cri errytiem" anime. I just watched it because it was supposed to be good and it was made by the creator of Clannad (again, I was an anime scrub so I didn't realize all Key anime are tearjerkers). If I went into the show expecting to have my heart torn out, it probably wouldn't have been.

The only part that made me cry was the baseball episode with hinata and yui. While not everything made me cry there were some genially moving scenes like the guitar chicks passing. The MC and that boring thing with white hair can go suck it though.

I saw Angel Beats little over two years ago while I was going through my first semester to college. Now, seeing as I was dumped by my ex just before the semester started. It wasn't the smartest decision I've ever made. I nearly died when I watched the ending, literally. The ending threw me into a deep depression, and on top of that I tried overdosing on some pills after getting into an argument with my ex a few weeks after I finished it. Hard times bro...

I didn't cry either. I often cry off animes and this was even in the top saddest animes or something. I guess I was too excited of a sad ending because of the hype.

well i didn't cry too. The scene was quite sad but it didn't made me cry and moreover when I starded watching Angel Beats I didn't know that there will any emotional scene. But I liked it.
If u didn't cry then it means that u r a strong person mentally. Isn't it a good thing?

Honestly, I think it depends on whether you found a character to sympathise with when each backstory was shown.

I didn't cry at all. I'll admit there were times where I almost started to tear up (Yui's story mainly), but I didn't think it was all that sad.

To be honest, it surprised me because I'm a total baby cry and cry for the stupidest reasons. One time, I even read the ending for Clannad on the Wiki because I didn't know there was an anime (only the visual novel) and I still cried a river even though I literally knew exactly how it ended.

For whatever reason, Angel Beats just didn't get me like it did others at all.

(don't get me wrong, I still really liked it a lot)

I only felt sad through the episode where episode where we learn Yui's past and she disappears(Sad, didn't even get close to crying). I really liked Iwasawa's story but it didn't quite get me emotional. While I liked Yuri, her backstory was forced as hell to gain sympathy from us. Don't get me started with Kanade and Otanashi: Kanade is overrated and boring while Otanashi is a prick at the end. Didn't even get emotional for these fucking plot devises.

The emotional stuff was way too forced and never felt genuine. Barring a few emotional scenes like the Otonashi death scene, rest felt soulless and contrived. The ending for example where Otonashi confesses his love for Angel (forgot her real name); how and where did it come from? Did they ever have an actual conversation? Angel's personality was a blank. Why did he love her in the first place. I'll stop rambling, now. As I've said, I found it all too forced.

Also, I think the show is way too overrated. I was expecting something great given the rating and popularity. What I got was - meh! I would've been more lenient towards it if it hadn't been so highly rated.

It was a bit sad but nowhere as sad as I thought it was going to be. I was expecting to see every main character's background. I teared up more in the first episode of Boku no Hero Academia than this whole series.

Marathoned the entire show today. I also didn't cry but I had wet eyes. I also didn't cry to episode 10 either. Didn't reach my expectations but it was still a good time waster.

I cried, because of thinking of my own regrets I have in life. I hope there is a place like the one in the anime for me.

The anime was mediocre, I know that. Underdeveloped characters, confusing plot, and no real answers. The ending was the best part.

I know, it was really mediocre. Everything you said was true. As an anime, it's meh at best. What got me was the premise. I find the idea of reincarnation and the world interesting. I hope it will be like that for me when I die.

If anything the ending pissed me off. They wanted to have this immensely sad ending, but it just wasn't earned. They basically went "FUCK YOU" to the characters with no reason whatsoever.

You most likely expected a emotional ending at the end. Were you spoiled? I knew what the show was about when I watched this series so the meaning of the show didnt hit me as hard.
But I still teared up a little at the end. It may be forced but I still teared up a little. lol

No, I like Elfenlied because Nyu~ describes me perfectly in some points. If I watch it it's more of an other feeling, I can't really describe it. Like when I am watching Death Note, It's something I can watch over an over. But no, not really sad if you understand the story right(I think).

But to be fair, I finished Angel Beats a long time ago now, and yes, in the end I did actually loose some tears ^^
