this is maybe a stupid question but are all of these rly sequels or can u watch them separately ?

They're related, but not 'directly', as in the plot points don't link. You're perfectly good to go watching them separately

It just so happens that I'm watching Macross Frontier at the moment. So far it really doesn't seem like there is anything that requires watching the prequel (I wasn't even aware of the fact a prequel existed up until right now).
