| Hey guys.. just a quick guide that may be able to save you a lot of heart ache and disappointment when purchasing 'Tim Tams' in the international market. The 'Tim Tam' market covers Australia, Canada, France, GCC, Indonesia, Israel, Japan, The Netherlands, New Caledonia, New Zealand, Sweden, and the United States. If you are outside these areas, please purchase from a reputable online seller, and ensure the product was manufactured in Australia. USA: The Real Tim Tams: Tim Tams available from "Cost Plus World Markets" in the USA do not bear the name "Tim Tam" on the wrapper and are branded as "Arnott's Original". Please make sure they are made in Australia. The Fake Tim Tams: Beware a product called Tim Tam that is made by Pepperidge Farm, these are NOT real Tim Tams. Despite being made in Australia, this product is made for export only, and is made cheaply to better suit the cheap cost of junk foods in the US. Arnott's original will cost around a dollar more per pack, and are called Arnott's original because they have not been adulterated by sister company 'Pepperidge farm' Rest of World: For those of you who are not in the US, you must ensure that the product is made by Arnotts and in Australia. Beware of Indonesian Tim Tams, especially if you are in Asia. These will bear the Arnott's logo, as they are made by an Indonesian company called "Halo Arnott's". This company can not be trusted. They have introduced a cheese flavoured Tim Tam to the Asian market, which, while quite popular in Indonesia, has embarrassed Arnott's Australia. |
