| You can try Kaiji. very good anime but I won't say it's quite like death note. As far as Code geass goes. IMHO if you want to compare it to death note. than it's a bad mech version. Yes, the main character is supposed to be "very smart"/bored/gets special power/think he can rule the world. but he is probably only 1/10th as smart as Raito, as determined as Raito, as parpared as Raito, as confident as Raito, planned as well as Raito, oh yea, and there is at a single person that can come close to L in Code geass. Think of Code geass as 2 Raito like person fighting against each other because each think he is right and the other is wrong. One got a speical power while the other got a speical robot. One is suppose to be "very smart" while the other is very phyically strong. |

| I second Ergo Proxy! Darker than Black Kurozuka Elfen Lied These all aren't childish stories. Though I recommend the manga over the anime for Kurozuka and Elfen Lied. But that's my humble opinion. Have fun watching! |

| Animes like Death Note? Take your friend's advice on watching both seasons of Code Geass. And also, I would like to recommend these few animes that are very similar: Jigoku Shoujo: If you like this series, watch the other 2 seasons. They are very similar to Death Note in the sense of how justice is served and also that both the users of Death Note and the ones who make contracts with Ai faces the consequences of no reincarnation allowed. Meitantei Conan: Kudo Shinichi solves mysteries like Sherlock Holmes but it occurs after a twist of fate in which he got transformed into a little kid, which starts off the journey. Monster: I haven't watched this one, but based on the synopsis.. It can be related to Death Note. Yakushiji Ryoko no Kaiki Jikenbo: Ryoko solves cases with the diligence and determination of "L". On top of that, she also possesses courage and a supernatural luck similar to Light's supernatural abilities. Regardless of who her enemies are, she dares to take them down as long as what she does is right. |

| No, Code Geass is nothing like Death Note. It's weird so many people think so - antiheroes who are supposed to be genii are hardly rare. Or is it the allegedly proactive part that gets people's attention? Geh. Code Geass is stupid, Death Note is only stupid at parts. Akagi, maybe? It's all in their heads, it is SRS BSNS for something that normally would be pretty trite (writing in a book/playing mahjong), the protagonist has a strict sense of unconventional morality. Akagi is far more badass and interesting than Light though. And the "ending"... well, yeah, not much of an ending. |

| Thirding One Outs. It's Death Note with baseball; a battle of the wits between the pitcher and batter with lots of suspense and "Just as planned" moments. Seconding Ergo Proxy and Monster. They're both great series that keep you on the edge of your seat. |

| I will be honest with you. There is no other anime like death note. Some of those anime that were proposed to you have similar elements but in the end none of them is like Death Note. They have quite a different atmosphere ansd spirit to them. |

In fact I know several people who watched the entire series say that this anime is better than both Code Geass and Death Note (In fact for some time even I did). Now don't you think I'm typing this without knowledge of Code Geass and Death Note. I've watched all of the so called "popular animes" (except for one piece) such as Death Note,Code Geass R1/R2,FMA,Naruto Shippuden,Bleach and Dr Grayman and I say this anime KILLS everything in this list except for Death Note and Code Geass. This anime ranks #2 in my list along with Code Geass. I'm making an unbiased statement here through my opinions. This series which I shall not mention has blown me away in so many different ways it has action,suspense,thrill and all other elements of death. This anime is also extremely popular in Japan but not as popular outside of it for numerous reasons. I avoided giving out this anime's name to shorten this rant of mine and If I did mention it's name I'm almost sure I'd have to overflow this topic in terms of ranting. I've made long rants before some even consuming 3/4 of a topics page. Not to mention keeping this animes name secret would also keep me from adding several details on how it is up to par with DN and CG. Although Death Note is my favorite, seriously I have to say people who have seen this series completely in terms of plot episodes would even say that it is better than Death Note. | I'm surprised that no one has mentioned Durarara!! Orihara Izaya is very similar to Light. He likes to create a game out of life and use people as pawns. He is manipulative, smart, and cunning. He has a goal and he doesn't care who has to hurt to achieve it. I recommend this much more than Code Geass. In Code Geass, I was able to predict the outcome and the moves of the main character. Durarara!! definitely feels more like Death Note, and it always keeps you guessing. |

| There are so many of these "anime like death note" in every forum. Monster Code Geass Code Geass R2 Those are the two I find CLOSEST to Death Note and you should try "Spiral" as well. |
