eh the others are more typical, you don't often see some of those bands mentioned in a place like this

The fact that Linkin Park, Fall out boy, and Panic at the Disco are still typical tastes is what disturbs me.

nah, there's a lot worse out there. at some of those bands have competent musicians and are (still) somewhat guitar-driven compared to many other commercial rock acts. well at least LP is still that way. fall out boy has gone full-blown garbage pop, i don't know about panic at the disco.

Being guitar driven doesn't matter at all. Its just actually giving a fuck about your music as an art instead of trying to be a rock star and pander to mindless sheep.

^ Those are the main 3 I listen to. But I don't listen to Paramore as much as I used to...
Unicorns are real.

Bowties are cool.

I'm a noob.

I'll put an actual signature later.

Deal with it.

in theory i would agree with you. but given the trend of bands putting out over-produced watered down pop rock in recent years, i find it often goes hand and hand with what you're talking about.

too many people nowadays make their music with computers and not instruments.

I'm stuck somewhere between 60s and 70s with music. So my lineup consists of:

The Beatles
Camel
Van der Graaf Generator (The only albums I don't like are the second half of The Quiet Zone/Pleasure Dome and Grounding in Numbers. Everything else is great)
The Move/Electric Light Orchestra (The Move was the prototype version of ELO. I like The Move a bit more.)
Can (Damo Suzuki's mangled up English, Japanese, and gibberish lyrics are a trip. I'm particularly fond of the album, Soundtracks.)
Caravan
Yes
Genesis (Peter Gabriel era)
Emerson, Lake & Palmer
Pink Floyd (DSOTM era. Not particularly interested in their psychedelic era.)
King Crimson
The Beach Boys (The odd duck in this mostly prog. rock-dominated line up. I'm progressing up through their discography so that I can feel a sense of awe when I eventually listen to the acclaimed Pet Sounds.)
Led Zeppelin (I like their first two albums the best.)

Jamiroquai and The Pillows are as modern as I get.
