I started off with the anime just a while ago because I hadn't heard of it before people started to talk about the anime release.
I haven't come very far with the series yet, but so far, it's really really great. I'm glad that at least one of this year's new anime that I watched managed to mesmerize me.

The first time I heard of it was at an anime streaming website. Then I started watching it on there. It was already about 4-6 episodes in when I started. Now, I'm up to date with the series. Can't wait for the 21st episode today!

I watched the first and second ep without knowing what it was.In the 2nd ep I thought that it would be a mediocre adaptation at best. After reading the LN I think I was too optimistic about the anime.

I saw the first 2 episodes of SAO, not knowing wtf it was. Well of course, the first two were just before the pacing issues so I didn't have any complaints about it. After getting hooked on the anime I did some research and found Baka-tsuki... 2 days later all 9 books had been read...

I noted when the first episode was released around 6 months ago. And then finally started to watch it 2 days ago on the 17/12/12. Got hooked on it and now I'm up to date with the anime. ^_^ What drew me to watching the anime was the fact that it was similar to my dream 5-7 years ago of making something similar to the VRMMORPG.

It was two years ago when I was new with animes as my best friend had introduced me to them. I think I had watched only one or two animes so far. Then he said, I should try watching his favourite anime, Sword Art Online, as it is completely exciting and it has also romance in it, and as he know, I like romance. So i took his recommend and watched it. And yeah, I guess you know how i liked it... Or otherwise I would not be in this club. ;)

I first watched it when the English dub was airing on Toonami back in 2012. I thought it was pretty decent and intriguing for a first episode, but as the episodes progressed, I started loving it A LOT more.

One day, I checked for Kimi No Na Wa theatre ticket on the website, as well as on Boxoffice Mojo, and it was at the time that I saw the cinema was screening Sword Art Online: Ordinal Scale. So I did a little search on the net, realized it's a series, so I started to watch and going on the light novel site.

I heard someone talking about it on Instagram. I didn't think much of it. However, I was browsing Netflix a few weeks later, and I saw Sword Art Online. Since I had remembered that name in the back of my mind from seeing posts about it, I decided to watch the first episode. At the time, I had just finished a really good RPG and was still on a high from that. So the story was intriguing. I'm so glad I decided to watch it back in 2014.

I had just moved to another country and I was feeling incredibly lonely and missing home, so I spent quite a lot of time on Netflix. I watched the first episode of the anime and I became obsessed immediately, so I told all my friends back home to watch it. Most of them (or at least the otakus) had already heard about it but they weren't watching it yet. Everyone LOVED it. We finished all the anime's seasons (multiple times) and then read the novels.

Now every time I meet my friends we discuss SAO and I like to remind them that I was the one to introduce them to the anime. I have to admit we're quite excited about the live-action adaptation and we're waiting for Netflix to do something decent with it, but I know that's asking a lot.

How? The anime was in the new anime section and it features a swordsman male protagonist stuck in a MMORPG; my beginning to the isekai genre and isekai is now my favorite genre as long as it features a sword maiden or a swordsman; slimes don't count. :P

SAO was one of my first anime aside from Naruto. It happened around 2012-2013, my one of the 3 only person in the class who watch anime told me about SAO. He describes kinda describes about it like saying the main character is trapped in a game where if you die in the game, you die in the real world as well. As a primary school student, who would've not interested by hearing that? So yeah, as someone who just knew another anime aside from Naruto, I really liked it. After watching SAO, I asked from my friend, does he have another anime recommendation, and that it goes like that, I watch what he gave me. At 2012-2015 I watch some animes, but I don't know the community is big as I know now.

Fast forward to 2016, I found MAL then instantly thinking about SAO. I thought to myself "this anime must be the number 1 anime here". Yes, as you have probably guessed, I was completely wrong about that. I was wondering to myself, "why? Why are people hating it? It should've been the best anime".

Now at 2020, I still think that SAO is not as bad as what people say, it maybe not the best anime ever, but its also not as bad as what people said about it.

Wandering in Zenshu shop.com (Thailand's Light novel publisher) and saw SAO in the first place of the best selling. I'm like "Damn! What the frick! Steins; gate is not the first anymore. And this looks quite nice." and bought the first vol.

I was indifferent to the franchise for quite a few years despite its incredible popularity and only got interested when Alicization's marketing campaign began. Some people get into something because of a trailer, a music track or a particular character, and I got into Sword Art Online because I found the promotional artworks to be nice...

Hmm. It was definitely the anime. I think it might've come up in the new anime feed on AnimeLab and I just started from the start... and didn't stop. At that time there was only one season, but I was hooked right away. It seemed to me to be a pleasant blend of the in-game stuff that I knew a lot about and also the real-world consequences and social commentary, which was missing from other 'magic portal' anime. Although I felt like this balance wasn't struck as well in later seasons, I still like it.
