I have already finished watching Kanon (2006) and I am wondering if Kanon has a different story or something.

Could someone list the similarities and differences between the two?

Thanks!

And it's more compressed than the 2006 version (since it's shorter in episode count). Besides that no, they're both adaptations of the same material. You already watched the better animated one.

Well from what you two said it sounds a lot worse than the 2006 version (which it should be of course). I might end up watching this in the near future just for the heck of it.

Thanks for the help!

no this is closer to the game in every way
"If you tremble with indignation at every injustice, then you are a comrade of mine"

When the union's inspiration through the workers' blood shall run
There can be no power greater anywhere beneath the sun
Yet what force on earth is weaker than the feeble strength of one
For the Union makes us strong

And we know that blindly adapting every little thing from a game is always the recipe for a good adaptation. Never mind the fact Yuuichi will look like a tool for dating five different girls.

Having just played the VN and watched both adaptations in the last few weeks, I really disagree. I watched the 2006 one immediately after playing the VN, so I found it a pretty amazing thing to see so much of the script and music come directly from the VN, as well as many backgrounds and establishing shots directly mimicking those from the VN. The 2002 one has less of all of that, and thanks to being condensed into a shorter episode count had to snip more of the source material.

I thought the 2002 one was at its best when it was tweaking the original content to help cram more into a limited time, like combining the dog-attack bit from Mai's story with an appearance by Shiori.

One of the things that I just didnt like at all of this remake is that the male MC picked the same chick he picked in the 2002 version.

COME ON!!!!!!

If in this version he would have picked another heroine, hopefully Nayuki, then the 2002 version would not feel "useless". Now their is no point of watching the 2002 version other than the Kazahana episode, which is kinda like this anime's After Story.

In Clannad, the only way to get After Story is for the male MC to pick Nagisa, which stinks because she stunk and the best chicks were Kyou and the dorm chick by far. But in this remake version, the male MC should have picked Nayuki.
