I hated, alto I have no idea why..

I changed a lot since I was 15, even back when I first got into anime, I had only watched code:geas and deathnote and I still hated the other anime's. Then I got into anime again 2 years later, around my 18th birthday, I started by watching bacanno! But even then I stayed away from anime's like kodomo no jikan and strike witches..
But 1 year later, that also changed.

I sometimes really hate my younger self, I was such a immature, close-minded something something.

Cartoon pornography. What else?

Then when I got into it:

OMG THIS IS THE BEST SHYTE EVER!

Now that I'm disillusioned:

Meh, it's not about loving anime. It's about finding the anime I love.

I have never hated anime. I have always loved traditional animation and hated 3D stuff by Pixar and Dreamworks and so on, so mainstream animes by Studio Ghibli are something that I enjoyed quite a lot when I was younger. It was like Disney, only a bit more weird and fascinating.

For the anime series, though... I had never really watched any, and I didn't think that the plots would be too deep and interesting. My stereotype of a character was either a kawaii kitten girl with a chipmunk voice or a gay dude with long hair and abs. For some reason, I thought that there is much less effort put in anime series than in movies, and didn't find them worth watching.

Of course I was very surprised to see how detailed and awesome the animation actually is and how intense the action scenes tend to be. Also, one of the first series I saw was Chihayafuru, and it really showed me that anime can portray feelings and problems that are complicated and that you can really relate to although the characters are not "real" people. It really made me understand that animated series can also be meant for teens and grown-ups.

One thing that was tough for me to accept in the beginning was the amount of violence and nudity, as it really broke my stereotype of the happy and friendly athmosphere that Ghibli's movies had given me. I have gotten used to it though, and actually the animes I enjoy the most right now are actually shonen. There's no avoiding big boobed chicks, and the splattery fighting scenes are just too goood *_*

I didn't think much of it at first.

My first exposure to anime was like 12 years ago with Pokemon and Toonami. I didn't even know what anime was and thought DBZ, rurouni kenshin and Yuyu Hakusho were just 'mature american cartoons'.

Wasn't until the start of 7th grade when I made friends with anime lovers that I realized those shows were actually anime and made in Japan. After 10th grade I kinda just stopped watching anime since that's when Toonami started declining.

It wasn't until a few years ago with death note and code geass that I started taking anime more seriously, and now I love it. Anime is so much better than regular TV shows and movies since there's so much more freedom. That and you wont get the kind of fan service seen in ecch anime in regular tv/movies lol.

I'd thought anime and the otaku subculture was pretty weird. I didn't want to become a part of it, and I was a little disturbed by the few anime I'd partially watched and the one manga I had read. I did enjoy Studio Ghibli's works, though, but I refused to consider them "anime" solely because I had this mindset that it was all weird and bad and wrong.

And here I am now. Wonder what happened.

I had nothing against it or for it. It was just there, just like any other show. However, I had a huge obsession over Card Captor Sakura so anime turned more than just a show later on in life.

When I started watching anime, I had no idea that it was even anime.^^;;
I can't say that I ever had any thoughts about it before watching.

I didn't care either way. I made fun of my brother for watching a few when i didn't -outside of saturdays on Adult Swim or Toonami - many years ago because it made him mad, but that's it. Now the tables have turned, but i don't care about his insults.

Thought the anime I was watching was cartoons; took me long enough to realise. I did originally have a poor opinion of anime thanks to the fillers and some lackluster animation in Bleach but after seeing a few more shows that has clearly changed.

I thought it was like watching cartoon shows on a computer, with subtitles.

"Why do their mouths not match what they say?"

I didn't question anything else. I was really little when i began watching Anime, Pokemon and Inuyasha came at the same time, and it seemed like realistic cartoons with plot. Only thing i ever wondered was why in other cartoons the mouths moved to the words but in Anime they just opened and closed.
