Synopsis
A strange man known only as the "metal fetishist", who seems to have an insane compulsion to stick scrap metal into his body, is hit and possibly killed by a Japanese "salaryman", out for a drive with his girlfriend. The salaryman then notices that he is being slowly overtaken by some kind of disease that is turning his body into scrap metal, and that his nemesis is not in fact dead but is somehow masterminding and guiding his rage and frustration-fueled transformation.

The last time I watched this film it thoroughly turned my stomach.

I turned the movie off after that scene and moved on with life. I don't even tend to be that squeamish of a person but man, this movie is something that I'm a little hesitant to revisit.

Saw this again last night and it keeps getting better and better the more I see it. Creepy, disturbing and a visual feast (imo).

The clear message at the end is that by constantly competing with one another in our strive for perfection in an orderly society, we are destroying humanity at its core. Technology is our tool of choice for this destructive competition. So you can say it has certain social message
