God knows it's been done to death on the main forums, but since this is the unique to the decade club, I thought the world could use our unique perspective. No, that is, the world NEEDS our unique perspective. And cool points for somewhat obscure ones. My two faves are both early 90's, Mighty Max and Exo-Squad.

Hmm, they are so many. I would need a mycartoonlist.net to keep track of them hehe. I think i will post them few by few so we could have a good thread ;)

One famous one is Thundercats. Although some people even consider it an anime, it's actually an american cartoon that happened to have a few japanese artists. (That's why the characters are so great ;) I consider Thundercats one of the best because it had great characters, amazing opening song and of course, HOOOO! :P

As for mighty max, yes I have watched that. I liked the drawing and the concept though I didn't ever get obsessed with it. I actually liked the guy with the sword more than Max. Unfortunately Exo-Squad was not broadcasted in my country, or else I would recognize it.

oh yes of course, loved thundercats...best logo ever. i think everyone looooved them some thundercats. whoever considers it anime is very mistaken. it's very american in it's design, at least it seems to me.

yeah the guy with the sword (norman) was my favorite too. him and virgil were beast, not that i didn't like him too...oh i forgot another favorite was centurions...the yellow dude was awesome

Oh god, Lion-O was called Norman in your dub? xD I didn't expect to be proud of my country's dubs (They kept the original names there). I normally hate dubs I prefer to watch them always in their original language. Unfortunately you don't have a choice when you are a kid. :P

But if they changed the names of the characters on your version that's quite lame. Not sure who Vergil is, maybe you mean Panthro? The guy with the nails and the nunchakus ? Thing is that the names are so damn good because they give reference to an animal that each character represents.

Lion-O -> Lion, Panthro->panther etc

Centurions was not broadcasted in my country I guess, or I have just missed it. I just watched the opening though. I love this old american speaker voice on the opening. :)

Have you watched M.A.S.K.? It had an INCREDIBLE opening song. Sometimes it still sticks in my head when I happen to watch the opening again.

Here it is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-vSD8DliZ1w&feature=related

oh first of all i meant the guy from mighty max that you said you liked more than max. he was norman here. lion-o was still lion-o. sorry for the confusion. i should have clarified.

yeah that was great with the centurions voiceover...he was letting you know it was some serious business with those weapon suits. :|

hell yes i watched M.A.S.K.!! i had the toys and everything, long gone now (they were pretty fragile toys). i don't remember the song, but i'll watch the vid after work.

oh my i totally forgot one of my faves ever, it was a little later, maybe mid 90s but gargoyles was the shit, esp when they did all the macbeth stuff. even if it was disney it was awesome. not a bad theme to that one either

Gargoyles was awesome. I was surprised when I found out that it was from Disney. Since it was quite a dark themed cartoon.

From the creators of Thundercats.

Silverhawks!

Amazing opening, with amazing guitar solo: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mzAQu23t19A

Thundercats HAD to be my best one back then. At one time I tried searching it here on MAL just in case.. although I knew it was American, but what Leon said about Japanese being involved totally made sense of why it felt so familiar in style.

Anyway, I also used to watch Ninja Turtles, I had ALL the action figures and was playing with them all day long, even sleeping beside them O.o Yup I loved boys' toys more.. cars and stuff...
Well I do have my girly side though.. I was watching My little Pony, and that fanatically as well!

Some other shows as Care Bears, Brave Star, etc..

And I was also a fan of two amazing and brilliant, in my opinion, Greek sort of cartoon-shows, "Tou Koutiou Ta Paramythia" which means sth like Music Box Tales, but it wasn't exactly animated, it involved puppets and a real girl.
Also "Froutopia", a show starring all kinds of fruits and vegetables and a cunning reporter.
And since I talked about puppets, the Muppet show was a fav since I remember myself. I should thank my mom for that love. hehe ;)

I was watching Bravestarr it had a very nice opening song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_n40Un4GP6E

I was also watching My Little Pony and Care Bears. I actually owned a little pony toy/house (not very proud of it *cough*) but i was so little back then so... My sis loved it :P

Ninja turtles was just amazing. So damn incredible intro: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vHuQsIJphu0

It makes me sad that the "new" ninja turtles cartoon sucks so much compared to the old classic one.

I just watched the Defenders of the Earth intro and apparently I have watched that also. Wow, there's one I had forgotten. ^^

And yeah I was also watching "Tou Koutiou Ta Paramythia" :)

Maybe you have also watched Captain Planet. Intro/Outro: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VcJI87u3DoQ

And He-Man. I didn't like the show that much but the intro song is simply great: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7yeA7a0uS3A (Lol at the top youtube comment :P)

don't be ashamed of your little pony house. we all had our guilty pleasures. mine was probably pound puppies, gummi bears, or shirt-tales.

yeah agreed on both counts for the ninja turtles, awesome theme...sucky as shit new version.

yeah i know the captain planet theme by heart. btw danger mouse was another great one that's often overlooked

how could i forget the brilliance of those two shows? esp x-men, the whole apocalypse, in the future back to the past, changing history with bishop timeline they had going for a while, was fucking genius and riveting. kudos for bringing them up and boo on me for forgetting. :(

The latest year I have watched more american toons than anime, more notably, all of Justice League and Superman TAS, Batman TAS (a few) and now I am watching Teen Titans which has style very close to Anime and also an awesome opening song.

I found a cool video that has the full song and also a few nice pics showing their awesome anime-like expressions :) Enjoy:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7YlqxTVLXGU

Ditto on Ninja Turtles. Also like Duck Tales. But my all time favorite (way back in 1983) was Dungeons and Dragons. I think it might still air on cable and it's available on DVD also. I would love to see a remake of this (more adult version perhaps).

I don't know much about cartoons, because it's not common in my native country.

Transformers was good. I like the toys ^^ *switching the robots to cars or planes and vice-versa*

DuckTales was good. The animation is better than most other cartoons at his air time, too.

I know some movies of Disney: Cap und Capper, Basil, Oliver & Co., Arielle, Beauty and the Beast, ...
Beauty and the Beast was awesome :3

Transformers were great, I used to watch that and had some of their toys. I had a transformer with sticker that change colors if you rubbed on it with your thumb (hmm that sounds kind of dirty xD). Yeah I loved ducktales, saw each episode at least 2 or 3 times. Disney movies are cool, Beauty and the Beast and Alladin are my favorites.

Beauty and the beast and Aladdin are two of my favorites of the disney series.

Their songs were just amazing each one of them is like a small masterpiece. I mean even the songs of villains were amazing.

Here one of the most annoying villains in disney history. Yet such a catchy song.

And here one of the most beloved characters Disney has created along with his great entrance song.

I'd really love to watch some classic old Disney movies with someone who enjoys them as much as I do.

I've rediscovered my love for Disney movies with a 2 year old to entertain. As much as I like some of the newer ones, I'll always love the ones that came out when I was a little kid. Aladdin, The Lion King, Beauty & the Beast, Pocahontas, Toy Story, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Hercules, Mulan, Tarzan... Eh, I think I just named 90% of the Disney movies from the 90's >_< I also really love The Aristocats, Robin Hood, The Jungle Book, 101 Dalmatians... Alright fine, I like them all.

I agree. The earlier Disney movies really had some magic that we don't see today. Though lately they have made some good tries with The Princess and the frog that attempted to bring some of this magic back and the most recent try with "Tangled".

I suppose today's "magic" lies with companies like Pixar and Dreamworks.

There was a cartoon version of Lord of the Rings. I was done very well with great voice acting. I especially liked this scene they did that was in the book, but Peter Jackson screwed it up in his movie. It was where Gandalf threw the ring in the fireplace and Frodo tries to stop him even though he was just told how evil the ring. Then Gandalf says: "do you desire it so much already?" great scene.

I suppose I would need to actually like a single cartoon made since 1970 to actually list anything.
While not technically anime, currently I am a big fan of Hatsune Miku.
At least I can go see her in concert.
