I recommend Full Metal Panic! for the Shounen/Action category, especially if you are a fan of mecha.

For my Genre: Dementia

I am new to the group but I figured that I would get in on this.lol. I'm not entirely sure what a Dementia anime would be though. So I will try my best to relate anime and the genre I pick

I recommend Neon Genesis Evagelion. Yea I know over rated? Right? Wrong. This anime has so much going on in it. From action, depression, philosophy, etc. This is a classic and a must see for all anime lovers. Even if you didn't like it, you can appreciate all the ideas that other animes have pulled from NGE.

My genre: Cyber-Punk

Akira

Great Classic. The manga is better, but the movie is still pretty good.

My Genre: Detective / Mystery
I probably regret this post by now.

Escaflowne: I'm not sure how many people classify this as a mecha but I do. It is quite a fun anime. That I grew up with. It is a classic for me. ^^

Genre: Slice Of Life

for slice of life: I'd recommend nodame cantabile

it's a really funny anime that centers around students studying in a music academy (classical type of music). It has a bit of romance in it, but I wouldn't really recommend it if the main thing you're looking for is romance because it is very subtle.

Next Genre: Historical

Cat Shit One is historical since it deals with the gulf war and i have to say it is awesome with great animation and good comedy elements tied into the action with bunnies engaging in war which is the funniest thing ive ever seen

Drama Genre: I recommend Victorian Romance Emma

I watched this a very long time ago and for me it was the perfect combination of drama, romance and historical genres. It's a bit sad even with the light hearted moments, so if you are an emotional person, you can expect to cry in the end.

for Josei I would recommend Michiko to Hatchin

I've only just started watching this and I'm already liking it from the very first episodes. I'd say it's a combination of adventure and drama with a sprinkle of comedy. Up till the episodes I've watched it light hearted and leaves you with a good feeling.

Well i watched first ~12 episodes in one night and was in absolute awe, even if animation is a bit strange, the intrigue that show creates is amazing.

Next Genre: Thriller.

I stumbled on this by coincidence, and was really amazed by it. Even being an OVA the stroy are psychologically deep and make your skin tingle with a mix of shock and anticipation.

Lovely Complex.
This is a comedy slice of life. I think it's funnier than OHSCHC so if you are a fan of that then you will love this. There is a touch of drama and a splash o romance, all mixed with a heavy does of comedy. So epic.

I'd reccomened 5 cm per Second - beautiful story, made me cry....really cute romance.

(also, does this club have a manga version of this game? Or can we just throw manga in here aswell? If we can just throw manga in here aswell, I'd reccomened love letter - a short manga about a couple who fall in love aound WW2, it's also apparently based on a true story - it's so sweet...)

Anyway, I'll shut up now and pick the next genre:

Action - but not childish shounen.

I'd recommend Sword of the Stranger. It's not childish I-will-give-you-a-history-lesson-about-my-new-move-before-I-execute-it type of movie, and it's got heart, and really amazing animation as well. It's a remarkable movie all around, so do give it a shot :)
