Remastered Seasons 1 and 2 don't end where Season 3 starts?!?!

I just finished the remastered seasons 1 and 2 (https://myanimelist.net/anime/51216/Xin_Qin_Shi_Mingyue). But that ends with the fight in Mechanical City.

Season 3 starts with Shaoyu leading his army against the emperor's in a desert.

Do these seasons match up at all? Has anyone else tried watching the new remastered seasons 1/2 before watching seasons 3+? Any advice on watch order (not spoilers) would help haha.
