while the first season was still airing, I took it up on myself to start reading the light novels. I'm fairly new to reading source material for shows but I told myself to keep expectations for an adaptation in order. that being said, it's frustrating thinking about all the things they could have done with this episode. I was hoping they would start from derricks perspective like in the novel. I realize in the grand scheme of the story, he wasn't really super important but it's just a tad unsettling seeing a characters perspective being completely erased especially since we hear about him later. I know I'm being picky and it's only the beginning of the second season. I just hope the important parts of the story get fleshed out the way they deserve(which they seem to be doing so far). just thoughts from a new light novel reader I'm sure the adaptation will be great

Pretty solid. Unfortunately, the actions scenes are pretty cutted up except for like Sylphie vs the assassin. Similar to last season. I guess theyll be saving that work for the best scenes like last season, too.

it didn't ruin the show itself for me, but it made it a harder recommendation where you have to add warnings or be like "it's really not about that".

well that rotational shot was heavily detailed and dope as fuck
it's the overall animation quality that looked off

hey they just spoiled te fun. it would have ren better if they followed the LN. this series stars from Vol. 7 bu try started with Vol.8 (or 9 i can't remember). It would have been so much fun to watch if it would have been after developments between Rudi and Fitz just as in LN.
And also some of the content was rushed and cut

Wow, so much criticism. A breath of fresh air to me. The animation when Sylphy saved the princess both times was great. The plot progression is great and I don't mind waiting to see Rudeus. I like fan service but I've stopped watching some echi for having bad plots so it's not everything. I'm not a light novel reader so I'm not comparing but it looks like I'm still gonna love this anime if future episodes are as good or better.

the only issue I had with it was that there was so much information that they had to condense down to one episode so it just feels rushes.

It's the first ep of the new season. They only called it a special because it's officially "ep 0" as it relates to the main story but doesn't focus on the main character of the series

oh that explains it, I thought the animation style was the most unique aspect of the new studio and this one really just felt/looked like a filter added over a normal anime. White Fox is a solid choice for adapting LNs though, cant complain.

I liked episode 0 far more than episode 1… episode 1 just felt rush plot wise… While episode 0 felt rushed animation wise. I honestly really liked episode 0 it checked all the boxes I look for in a stand alone episode. Episode 1 though… I wanted more… I wanted A LOT more. Honestly episode 1 should have been a double feature.

It's a trade off. Stick close to the source material to keep Rudeus as he is, or don't and change his personality.

I'm reading the novels and am a little ahead, I think, of where S1 left off. Was this an anime only episode, was it based off something in the novels, or canon. Sorry if it's been said already.

Sorry idk if it was based off something in novels because I just watch the anime... It was the "story" of Sylphie... pretty regular, nothing great, but maybe it's relevant for the future of the story and characters in anime idk... maybe you know better how relevant will be Sylphie in this season
