Puella Magi Madoka Magica
| I've seen some people say that Madoka is only about edginess. Idk what they are talking about, especially when you consider the ending. Sincerly, madoka is a tragedy, but it's not all edgy and it's not making its characters suffer for the audience enjoyement. What's your opinion about this? (You can still dislike or hate the anime, and it's not the perfect show, I just don't understand when ppl call madoka edgy) |

| I think it depends on your definition of edgy. You said that it doesn't make characters suffer for the audience's enjoyment, so I'm guessing your definition of edgy is related to that, and that statement is a bit subjective because how are you supposed to tell when the suffering is more than what the plot demands. If I were to guess, I imagine people might see Madoka and say, "This is much darker than I expected," and call it edgy. For a lot of people, dark and edgy mean basically the same thing. |

| Never heard about this one. 50% Will just tell you it's genius and deconstructing the magical girl Genre like no Anime ever did The other half raves about the horror aspect, or their favorite girl transforming... Dunno...To me it didn't feel overly edgy. And I don't think it's really a Problem a lot of people have with the Show |

| Edgy is a word that's lost a lot of its usefulness as it's become more broadly utilized unfortunately. My personal definition is when a show tries to normalize really exaggerated displays of emotion/or lack thereof. Like how almost everyone in "Happy Sugar Life" is positively insane. I don't think anything within Madoka really falls under edginess, in the way I describe it. The only scene that gives off those vibes is with Sayaka at the end of episode 7. But, even that, I would say is properly contextualized to characterize the fragility of Sayaka's heroic facade. She has an extreme reaction, yes, but the show doesn't normalize this behavior. Instead, everyone around her realizes she is acting self-destructive at this point and respond accordingly. That being said, people's definitions vary, and at least what I understand when people call Madoka edgy, a lot of the time what they mean is "This is a show with dark themes that I don't like". That's what I kind of have to take it as unless they expound upon their criticisms. |

| Homura is edgy and Sayaka would agree. But when your friend's life is on the line, being edgy is a very minor crime. |

| I think the first couple of episodes are, but all the stuff with Sayaka and Homura is when the show starts to get some depth to it |
