----------------------------------------

Meio missed a golden opportunity. Yes, he probably can't just say "don't blow up the Idaho because my sister is on it", but by saying it's a secondary target, he's unnecessarily risking her death. Meio had a very convenient excuse he could have used to justify to his undisciplined men why they should not blow up the Idaho: "don't blow up the Idaho because we need to capture the engineers onboard who maintain the Dragonars. We can interrogate them and learn how to crack the Dragonar's security systems and reverse engineer and mass produce Dragonars for Giganos." He could have appealed to their desires: "Do you want to pilot awesome mech suits? Don't blow up the red ship!". Those men would have a very strong motivation to capture the Idaho, and thus Meio wouldn't have to worry about his sister being killed.

I liked the scene where they were planning their squad formation and tactics. I've never really seen any other Gundam or mecha series do this. I think the only other anime in which they went into formation tactics was LoGH and Log Horizon.

Where do those backpacks go while they are sitting in a cockpit seat? Is there a hole in the cockpit seats for the backpacks to fit into when the pilots are forced back into their seats when they accelerate forward?

The Idaho re-entering the Earth's atmosphere? The Idaho is not capable of generating lift! It's three flying cylinders! Yeah, the White Base and the Argama weren't realistically aerodynamic, but at least they were vaguely plausible with their flat bodies and their wingspans so they could generate lift, and could stay in the air due to the constant thrust from their magically super efficient engines. But the Idaho? Really?

To be fair to Meio's squad of fodders, they didn't know if Meio was still alive/conscious when his suit was damaged. Meio wasn't responding over the radio, so going to him to protect him by bodyblocking wasn't a bad move. Meio didn't signal to his squad that he was still up until they were already bodyblocking so they didn't know that they were obstructing his missile counterattack. However, had they stuck with the plan and had continued firing on the heroes from all sides, they might've disabled or destroyed on of their targets, albeit at the loss of their squad leader.

Also, this latest incident isn't looking very good for Meio's career within Giganos. Within the span of... what? A week? Two weeks? He managed to 1. fail to capture the Dragonar shipment, necessitating in the use of the Mass Driver on a civilian space colony in an attempt to destroy it, 2. lost his mothership because he didn't defend for the possibility that the Idaho might launch a counterattack, 3. the Idaho prisoners escaped from Atlanta colony while under his watch and lost the colony, and now 4. lost the squadron assigned to him in battle. I suppose the only thing he has managed to accomplish was destroying the fleet that Federation fleet that was escorting the Idaho, but Giganos was dominating in the war anyway so I doubt that this contribution would be seen as very meaningful. Meio has failed in his mission to capture or destroy the Dragonars. At this point, I wouldn't be surprised if Meio gets taken off of the hunt and reassigned. Apparently the war has been running for 3 years so hopefully Meio has built up enough of a reputation to be able to survive this bad luck streak, but things need to turn around soon or he's going to be in real trouble with the higher ups.
