Now Kanata turns into a total ass.
He noticed early on that Yudais and Chinamis feelings were mutual. Now he realises that he has lost, but can't accept it and resorts to violence.

There aren't many characters in this manga, but he surely is the worst. First he is into the mother of his childhood friend. He can't have her so he goes out with a bunch of girls.
Then he gets caught and suddenly develops feelings for Chinami. Yeah, right.

And he constantly tries to drive a wedge between Chinami and Yudai.

Then there is Kazune, almost the palest character in the whole manga. (Followed by her mother and that sidecharacter that never got much attention.)

This is a prime example to show that if you love someone, you can't just stand by idly forever. She was so used to the status quo with the brothers that she never even thought about confessing to Yudai. And I assume that Yudai always only saw her as a childhoodfriend.
Was she afraid of him telling her that? Afraid of rejection? Whatever it was, due to her inaction another girl entered their life and slowly but surely conquered Yudais heart.
And it looks like she didn't even notice, because she sure does look surprised about Yudais statement.
