| I know people are often confused as to what exactly happens between Biba and Ikoma in their final battle, and why Biba uses the white blood on Ikoma. I summarize it in the paragraph below, but for a better, more in-depth explanation (with pictures!), follow this link: http://innerchorus.tumblr.com/post/147493098739/biba-and-ikoma-in-episode-12-you-are-not-afraid Ikoma draws out the black blood's power when he's on the verge of losing, but he'd already used it enough that right before he can kill Biba, the black blood takes his vision. So Biba, whose character is centered around a hatred of fear, fearfully sneaks up on Ikoma from behind. Then Mumei drops Ikoma's river stone (which she picked up from Takumi's corpse, as you can see throughout episode 11 she holds something in her hand) in the water to alert him of Biba's attack. Upon being caught as a coward by the fearless Ikoma, Biba realizes what he was doing was against his own beliefs, and decides to let Ikoma kill him (he thinks that would prove his beliefs correct). However, he's outraged when Ikoma doesn't finish him off and instead goes in the direction the stone dropped to save Mumei. Struggling to find proof in his ideology, Biba shoots the white blood into Ikoma in hopes of still being finished off by the fearless one or at least finish their battle in a less humiliating way. His hopes are shattered when Mumei (who he thought showed clear signs of fear and weakness in episode 10) finishes him instead. |
