He says he believes in her because he loves her but she says love is not enough of a reason. Subaru says if love is not enough to believe in her then he wouldn't put up with all the hardships to come save "a troublesome woman like you". He loves her so much that he could die.

Emilia says she never asked for all that and he is saying whatever he wants. She states that she has no idea of what he's thinking all the time and he tells her he is always trying to think of how to look or act cool in front of her and how to make her happy. She asks him not to speak like a puppet and that he must hate her since he broke their promise. More "I love you"s and "Liar"s. He says the broken promise and this matter are different from one another. He avoids mentioning why he broke the promise and says he can't tell her. She refuses to believe him because he broke their promise. She confesses that after Pack left her she has started seeing unknown scenery and conversations in her head which she doesn't remember anything about. It's the memories of her past that she had Pack seal but it resurfaced after their spirit contract was severed.

Seeing that his words weren't getting through to Emilia, Subaru tells her that he will show her that he really loves her then. Both her voice and eyes tremble

"Suba......" "If you hate it then avoid it" saying that he brings his face closer to her.

He waited to see, if she tries to turn away he would stop there but she just closed her eyes after a few seconds passed by. He doesn't know what she's feeling but he ends up kissing her. For Emilia it's their first time but for Subaru it was his second time with her. It was different from the cold taste of death from their first time, this second time was a hot taste of life. Their lips separated and Emilia is blushing with moist eyes while Subaru who's reflected in her eyes also has a flushed face.

He tells her again that he loves her and whatever happens it will not change. No matter what she does or says, he will always believe her. "Because, you love me......" a flustered Emilia continued his words while touching her soft lips with her finger, as if to confirm the remaining sensation there and her tears overflowed. He says it's fine no matter what she recollects of her lost memories as he will be her ally.

E.M.T HAS SAILED PEOPLE, IT HAS SAILED ALL THE WAY TO NEVERNEVERLAND

Quite a shame that the anime will probably not reach this part lol.

This is in fact a scene that happens in arc 4, not volume 4 btw, which would be around volume 19 or 20 of a future LN.

Well in this season we won't reach it, still...

They dropped various hints towards an adaptation of the 4th arc throughout the anime. These hints were mostly scenes that would not make any sense to include in this season because they hold no significant meaning until arc 4. So with the tight schedule WF has they would have no reason to put these scene in there if they didn't plan to do something with it.

Right now I think they want to have a solid base on what they can possibly expand this series on, so they keep themselves the option open.

AnimeSuki has various scenes translated by volunteers. Another one would be this scene also from arc 4

Subaru ends up in a world of darkness and can't see anything and then he accidentally walks right up to Satella after feeling a eerie wind that chills him to the bone. She was standing right in front of a graveyard's entrance but he didn't notice her until she was right in front of him. He is paralyzed and she got an oppressive atmosphere around her. Her silhouette is warped in darkness and her voice is distorted like a phantom. His initially reaction is fear, pure fear, just from how she shows up right in front of his face and keeps saying "I LOVE YOU I LOVE YOU I LOVE YOU" with overflowing passion - he is the only thing she is concerned with or has interest in. He confirms that time isn't frozen like when he has his usually tryst with her.

While he's frozen like a "frog being glared at by a snake", a character that appears later on, a companion jumps in between them and rescues Subaru. As they run away they could hear "ILOVEYOUILOVEYOUILOVEYOU" slowly approaching while swallowing up everything behind them. She is like a tempest of darkness engulfing the forest behind them, all the trees get torn up while the "ILOVEYOUs" grows louder. Subaru asks what happened to everyone and his friend says they all got trapped in the darkness and when he asks about Emilia and why he didn't find her in the graveyard the friend is hesitant to reply, Satella slaughtered everyone simply by walking past them. The vortex of darkness moves slowly out the forest but as soon as she sees Subaru's figure the mass of darkness gets all excited and flies at him.

His friend can turn into a tiger and he attacks her but gets caught in the air and has his limbs torn off and his torso ripped apart, his intestines scatters everywhere as he screams. All while shadowy Satella is gliding with her arms out toward Subaru as if trying to hug him. Subaru mentions he feels instinctive fear and repulse towards getting hugged by her and would prefer to be eaten by the white whale, a gruesome monster we will see in arc 3. Another companions of Subaru also get their legs severed by shadowy spear-like tendrils and then their torso skewered and lifted into the air besides the still screaming friend of Subaru. They tried to cast light into the world that is engulfed with darkness and it worked for a second, the dead world was freed from the darkness but then despite Subaru's hopes he hears... "I LOVE YOU!". The world turns absolutely dark again as if it would be angered by the attempt to chase it away.

All while slaughtering everyone she only has eyes for Subaru and repeated confesses her curse-like love while she mercilessly butchers those in between her and Subaru.

Anyways he starts feeling overwhelming anger towards her for killing everyone and curses her in every single way possible. When she says "I LOVE YOU SUBARU" he loses it, yelling that he did not give her permission to call him by that name. He is surprised she became silent and docile after he got mad at her and wonders if he is her weak point. He regrets not shouting at her sooner so he could save everyone. She remains quiet and allows him to rake his brains. While he ponders about her weird behavior he mentioned the name of another witch and she starts her curse-like "I LOVE I LOVE YOU" again, he's like "As soon as I mention another person's name you get all worked up!". He gets fed up and says how cheap her love is that she must repeat it over and over and how much he despises her and suddenly the world is completely consumed in darkness.

Satella keeps saying "I LOVE YOU" but he tells her repeatedly to shut up, he feels like he would start to go insane if he's around her any longer. He notices how she appears to love and desire him on the surface but seems to actually want Natsuki Subaru the tool/vessel - basically drowning herself in the concept of love and only desiring a relationship with him while treating him like an object. He doesn't understand her at all and when he says "I HATE YOU!" she shuts up and tries to engulf and absorb him so he will spend eternity with her, he doesn't feel confident in his willpower and conviction will endure in that state.
Luckily the handkerchief he got from a friend which can apparently transform into a knife started to emit light from him and he remembers its existence. He slashes apart her dress of darkness and it scatters like spider webs, he then stabs at the side of her face and it connects. He is excited but then freezes when the witch's face became visible as the shadowy mask dispersed, it's a silver haired girl he is familiar with. He calls her "Emilia!" several times and asks what she was doing here but she is unresponsive. She tries to pull him into her again and he realizes it's hopeless to try and escape her. He stabs his throat with the knife handkerchief and bleeds out. In his dying state and hazy mind he notes that the witch showed a violent reaction to his suicide for the first time, showing another reaction besides her obsessive love for him.

He looks at her and speaks, “Not to the imitation that’s trying to fill in that vessel, but at the girl herself”. While he chokes on his blood he tries cough out his words

“I’ll, definitely----“

Thank you fur further clarification, quite sad that the odds for reaching this is very low, so even with the pace theyre going with on skipping the OP and ED visuals its still impossible? guess one can only hope for a season 2 now.

It's impossible to reach anything of arc 4 in this season. Arc 4 is the largest arc by far. It's about 50% bigger than arc 3 and it would need its own 2 cour season to adapt entirely.

Not only that but both the scene you mentioned and I posted are right in the middle or towards the end of it.

Well it's more likely than it is unlikely, that we can say.

oooh so this recently just happened, kinda glad I jumped in on animesuki and read it, it was worth getting spoiled for.

I guess thats the only good part about it then, getting a 2nd season is the only hope, well that and the manga hopefully someone translates it till chapter 110.

That and everything in Arc 4. Within reason of course. Through personally I would Arc 4 and 5 animated together within like 36 episodes which is the most ideal setup.

Just finished reading the spoiler.... what can I say...Subaru has guts, my heart just broke with those finishing lines on what he did. Also that was some horror shiz right there, really further proves how I see this franchise as a horror/romance kind of setup, I mean I cant exactly call Subaru's obsession towards Emilia pure, the dude is literally creppy with how he is with Emilia, to top that shiz off it seems

Just finished reading the spoiler.... what can I say...Subaru has guts, my heart just broke with those finishing lines on what he did. Also that was some horror shiz right there, really further proves how I see this franchise as a horror/romance kind of setup, I mean I cant exactly call Subaru's obsession towards Emilia pure, the dude is literally creppy with how he is with Emilia, to top that shiz off it seems

Shit is confusing, so like is Emilia Satella? Or is there a split personality and entity. Spoil me to your hearts content.

At this point, it leaves me to believe that they were one and the same before and then they split but still keep the common traits (Appearance and vague memories).
