@Haru: Title correction required lol it says "One Punch ManHruchika...."
so great and conveniant this thread was made while i was watching episode 1 haha

Ep 1:

I was always excited for this as P.A. is my favorite studio and Mystery my favorite genre. Also with the school setting i thought it might be something going remotely in the direction of Hyouka. At least i haven´t seen the genre/setting mix since Hyouka...

The episode number is still unknown but i guess it´s a 12-13 ep show judging by how fast they got into the story and how fast they introduced the main characters. I think the characters are pretty solid ^^

I have no clue about the source material so i have no idea what´s going to happen which is always a huge plus :) Really looking forward to this Anime!

Though i have to say it will take me a while to get used to Chikas eyes. Those look REALLY strange...oO

Haruchika: Haruta to Chika wa Seishun Suru Episode 1 Thoughts
All DEM sneezing, I feel your pain >.>.
My first thought is that Chika Homura has some interesting eyes. You would think she was a demon or something.
I don't know if that will have a meaning later. There is no supernatural tag or anything.

When I saw that blood at beginning I thought this was going to be like another "Another" or something like that. In my head, I was like oh no. Thankfully it was something else.

This show can be interesting if every mystery is based with music like the first one but someone who isn't very knowledge about classical music personally.
The connection in solving the mystery with the viewer at home is not there for me. When watching a mystery I don't like to just be spoon feed everything.
So that might hinder my experience with this anime.

Though that ending...

Hmm
It was a fine first episode , characters really look PA work's characters so I already like the design.
I'm curious to see how they will manage the music and mystery theme together . (or if they will just ignore the music part of it)

And what? oO
Ok , I didn't really expected that love triangle .... Rip Haru x Chika (not that I ship them anw)

I agree with @Hibbington, and I really hope they don't spoon fed every single mystery to us.

The first episode was ...okay I guess, I certainly disliked it more than I liked it.

I'm not expecting much from this anime. Its prob going to be another glasslip. I really hope I'm wrong.

btw, this anime dropped like 2000 places (from ~1300 to ~4100), every since the anime aired XD.

It's very possible that the way the mystery in this episode was handled could be very different from future episode because of the character's involvement. It makes sense that is was spoon fed to us because the primary person trying to figure it out was the one who actually wrote it. So fingers crossed that the rest won't quite be like that.

As for everything else, digging the characters so far, loving the eyes especially my GOODNESS, and excited to see what comes of the musical tie-ins with the show. Great way to start of the season if you ask me!

I feel like the mystery element of the show might turn out being a little weak (it feels a bit tacked on so far), but as a slice of life I'm enjoying it so far. I like the characters already, particularly Chika, so that's a good sign. All in all, I'm looking forward to this one~

Episode 2:

I really enjoyed this episode. It was bittersweet as i like it even though a little over-dramatized probably for a second episode.
It´s looking a bit like a crossover from HibikexHyouka haha
Haruta is the new Oreki...he´s playing the role of the new wise guy quite well...also despite being depicted as rather weak he is still a real guy i guess, he took that reverse slap pretty well! Those hurt i know it lol

Chika felt waaaaay to comfortable in Narushimas arms at the end ^^
Overall a much better episode than the first one.

Looking forward to next week!

Hmm Idk
Haruta seems to know things out of nowhere ... that can't normally be notice following normal logic ... he just start to assuming things and is always right =p

Also a bit to forced to try a drama episode so early, imo it wasn't really good..
The whole "take this puzzle and do it for me because I can't and everything will be ok" was kind too week too me =p

Hope we get a bit more music in the show =x

I had some trouble suspending my disbelief in this ep... I mean, it all ended ok but how it got there was a little weird for me. Like, once the new girl's tragedy was revealed, it felt like ok guys, maybe your brass club isn't the most important thing in the universe lol And I agree with Harus, Haruta's Sherlock Holmes gig is kind of grating on me already. I was kind of looking forward to him as a gay/bi character that doesn't seem to be an awful stereotype, but he's kind of annoying me haha! We'll see how the next episode goes...

Episode 3:

Judging by the title Haruta and Chika should more or less share the carrying of this show don´t they...so far Haruta is completely stealing it so liking this anime or not depends on liking Haruta or not only at the moment...sort of...

Anyway i liked the play in this episode.

Episode 4:

It was surprisingly light given that two of the first three episodes were somewhat heavy for a setting like this. There mystery cases are somewhat creative but not really thought through too well. I mean, how can a HUGE lock on the outside of a house be unnoticed for decades lol

Haruta still the one who completely steals the show from Chika. I feel like his Onee-san had more relevance than her so far, maybe that´s the reason they gave her these eyes...so she does not go as completely unnoticed...

Still somewhat enjoyable for me, but this needs to get better and more thought through...

I'm struggling to enjoy this show. I feel like P.A works can be a great studio if they just produced works like Nagi no Asakura and Shirobako instead of shows like this and glasslip...

Most of the episodes feel somewhat rushed, and the mystery of each anime isn't the greatest. It might be just me but Chika feels utterly useless in this show and I'm not quite sure why they decided to make her the main protagonist if I'm honest. It's just Haru doing all the work.

It feels exactly like Charlotte, where they want to do so many things, but it ends up with the story being a complete mess.

I liked to see some change in this episode.. at least it wasn't another 'recruiting member' episode.
Still the mysteries are .. 'meh' .. and the process of resolving them are still weak to me , since all it happens is Haruta resolving them out of nowhere (this one was quite simple actually) .. and I still don't like Haruta =s

I'm struggling to enjoy this show [2]

Ep. 5

Looks like they went for a more realistic "mystery" this time. I will take this episode as a slight improvement because instead of Haruta doing everything by himself, this felt more like a team effort this time.

Still, these supporting characters are so uninteresting. I hope something exciting involving them will happen sooner or later because up to this point everybody except for Blonde guy feels like they were just there to fill up the picture lol

Haruchika: Haruta to Chika wa Seishun Suru Episode 5 Thoughts

*sigh* time to sit through another Haruchika...
Another episode, another new person joining the club.
That honestly is the main plot of the show. Building up the club.
Everything else with the love triangle and the "mysteries" is just secondary.

I think the show would of been better off if it was just centralized around building the club without these secondary elements that are the main reasons the show is one of the lowest this season for me.
I feel like not many shows these days want to take the full Slice of Life route.
Glasslip and Tomoko Market are two shows that come to mind that could of been better if it was just normal slice of life show.

well, well...

i wasn´t exactly "hyped" for episode 7 to come out today, but i watched it as soon as i could anyway. It actually payed off! This was easily the best episode of Haruchika so far...not a extremely tough task to be honest, but it was still a good episode of anime for me for the following reasons:

1. The "mystery" was set up nicely with that phone call pre-opening. It was told consistently and it was also interesting and not over-complicated. Nobody had to act like a smartass (is that a legal word in here?).

2. Chika and Haruta felt much more like a team to me here. Haruta didn´t get more screen- or talktime at all and he didn´t act like..well...see point 2 lol

3. The details were beautiful. That night scenery with the mellow piano sound in the background was lovely.

______

also...anyone else out there who thought Chika should stick with a pony tail after we saw her wearing one in that scene at home at her desk? I think she is much cuter with a pony tail ^^
(which is something she aims for as she stated herself in the first episode so...stick with the PONY TAIL ^^)

Did this Anime go from bad to mediocre or why does nobody want to discuss it anymore? ;-)
Everyone enjoyed bashing it as long as it was bad...

Anyway i liked the story in Ep.8. Haruta got back to being the super smart guy again but the story itself was really creative and nice.

Is it just me or why did that "First Love Sommelier" (what kind of a profession is that anyway!?) person remind a A LOT of Ryu from Bartender???

Because every episode is the same.
So you can't just keep bashing on the same things without it getting tedious.
I honest was doing push-ups and sit-ups the last episode as I felt it was a better use of allocating my time on how much that episode mean't nothing to the show.

Last weeks episode was a pure filler on their way to the competition. Generally the show got better since episode 5 in my opinion. However the most recent episode was more like the first 4 again...

So it is just gonna be 12 episodes, i am really surprised to be honest...
It´s a shame too as i think it got much better at the halfway point with the exception of episode 10.

Now it won´t get any higher than 5 or maybe 6 when i´m nice to it since 50% of the anime was not good :(

Sorry guys, but I absolutely hated this show. Weak mysteries, with very forced complexity and explanations. To make everything even worse, the format chosen for the anime makes a rushing pace inevitable, mainly at the end of the episodes. One mystery per episode really didn't work for me. Since there's really no time to develop the charades and include credible elements to solve them, the resolutions were force fed every time. And I'd go as far as saying that none of them was interesting.

Maybe if I paused to think about what they were discussing I might have reached a different conclusion, but I never felt compelled to do it, since nothing was engaging to me. Even the characters stroke me as annoying and one dimentional.

I can't see myself giving it more than a 3/10.

Good ending to a mediocre show. Bad start, it got better as it went on but it´s nothing that will stick in my mind.

I liked that they gave the full performance at the competition together with the credits and scenes of them recruiting the members one by one. It was a nice summary and i enjoyed the music. That was important to me because music was a non factor in this show most of the time which is the thing i disliked the most in this anime apart from Haruta being a (annoying) one man show for the whole first half before Chika finally added something to the show.

Good:
Mysteries in the 2nd half
Whole Last Episode
The Fact they didn´t win to avoid the cheesiest crappy ending
Best Opening Song of the Season

Bad:
The Whole first Half
Haruta being too much of a smartass
Chika not doing anything for the anime early despite being one of the title heroes
The support characters are all completely forgettable

The score is actually going up a lot for the last episode...which I don't understand why. This show has been buried 6 feet under for me a long time ago though. The 2 out of 10 was imminent.

They finally gave us the music scene that we all wanted but...it was nothing rememberable. Thus I strike the final nail in the coffin of Haruicka.

Rest in Peace and take P.A. Works with you when your at it.

Same score here.

About the music scene, it never even got close to making me feel anything. Of course after the 11th episode of Nodame Cantabile (1st season) it's hard for anything to compare (but I'm biased 'cause Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto n.2 is my favorite romantic composition! ::))))))))))))))))))
