Should I start watching the UC timeline with the series or the movie trilogy?

Just curious which would be better for someone trying to start watching the UC timeline.

the series.

it does drag on at times and the movies cut a lot of the fluff out, but i feel they cut out too much of the series from the 2nd and 3rd movies.
