How bad is this an adaptation?

I have only played a little bit of the game and watched the first episode of the anime. I didn't like a number of minor changes made but does it get worse and just go into shitty adaptation level or is the plot just shit?

It gets worse and completely derails some characters, eg. Makoto. It's garbage even as a stand-alone. Don't bother with this adaptation, just play the game. It's very misleading and may influence incorrect perceptions.

It was bad enough for me to drop it..... and I very rarely drop seasonal shows (Usually only long running shounen's).
