| What are your thoughts on Telenovelas? Ever since I was a young child I've hated those cheesy, over-dramatic clusterfuck telenovelas that my mom watches. But recently on Netflix they've added some popular titles and I thought I'd give "Maria la del Barrio" a shot. I went in with an open mind and well... I still hate it, but I think I've become obsessed too. I. Can't. Stop. Watching. This. In all of it's overacted glory. Plus the MC is so fucking annoying. Vladimir is my new love. Close-ups abound. |

I once watched DRRR and he walked in my room. Do you watch movies he asked. I said that it was anime then he said that he doesn't understand it and that his eyes can't focus. What can you expect from a man who confuses Japanese with Chinese, lel.) When I was a tween my father used to watch Matchos. Last year he watched Grand Hotel. Now he watches some turkish crap. My mother and father both watch stupid soup operas made in my country. Their writting is top tier bullshit. I always make fun of it when I walk by them on my way to the restroom. Shitties anime is good compared to them. |

| I had seen Maria la del Barrio when I was little haha. The whole thing with the spells and love potions was pretty ridiculous. Also the dub in my country was extremely stupid and you just couldn't take anything seriously. I agree about the mc being annoying, he has also starred in many other telenovelas. I've seen some other ones, when I was way younger they were all the rage in my country. I could understand how ridiculous and trashy they were but I still watched them, kind of a daily habit. |
| The only thing i hate about telenovela (and Korean Drama, and any TV drama in particular) is the excessive abuse of "misunderstanding" to drag the story. I'm talking about this scenario : when girlfriend catches boyfriend in ordinary, not at all romantic in the slightest situation with another woman, automatically assumes the worst and freaks out. They try to explain the situation to her, but she doesn't listen. In fact, she outright refuses to. She'll go with nothing other than what she assumed. She doesn't confront her boyfriend later, refuses to listen to reason or even to calm down, and an entire arc of the show. She just refuses to believe anything other than her original assumption of "That cheating bastard!". If she thinks so lowly of the guy, then WHY is she in a relationship with him? And if she does want the relationship to continue, then why is she so stubborn about something that she DOESN'T WANT TO BE TRUE?! |
| I watched them a lot when I was younger, eventually I stopped because I found other interests, but I still don't think there is anything wrong with them. People are still making fun of them in this country because they have nothing better to do, but it's not funny at all anymore. |

| I hate most of the telenovela shows here tbh. Stories are about broken families, a adopted child, early pregnancies, men cheating on their wives vice versa etc.. There are some decent ones though that I watch, but very rare. |
