So the king of manga world building vs the king of novels world building, who is a better world builder?

This also counte for magic, how the world interacts, and complexity, gepgraphy and history and finally, self-sufficiency; meaning how much the world is open ended and can produce interpreted lore even if not shown.

For me:
Magic: Togashi
History: GRRM
Geography: GRRM
Complexity: Tie
Self-sufficiency: Togashi
Interaction: Tie

I say grrm is a better technical world builder while Togs is better in creative terms.

Thoughts?

You lost me here.

I was never interested in "x vs. y" by any means, however.

"If you tremble with indignation at every injustice, then you are a comrade of mine"

When the union's inspiration through the workers' blood shall run
There can be no power greater anywhere beneath the sun
Yet what force on earth is weaker than the feeble strength of one
For the Union makes us strong

Manga vs books is a huge difference. That being said, I like Togashi's world a ton more.

The only people lolling are those who can't understand that books aren't necessarily a step above on a hierarchy above manga. They both use different techniques, so it's kind of a given that the book world is going to be more "technical" which doesn't mean better.

At least the books don't give as much screen time to GRRM's sexual fantasies as the show.

Tolkien is better than both when it comes to Worldbuilding. Maybe J. K. Rowlings too.

That doesn't even make sense, much like the OP's post.

I think he's trying to suggest that finding this topic absurd is equivalent to thinking novels are inherently better than Manga without acknowledging the differences in technique.

I don't know where he came to that presumption though.

Based on other things I've read here, it's a prevailing attitude. But yeah I don't know why you'd really compare the two. Even just with the vastly greater material because GRRM isn't lazy, it's bound to objectively have a greater quantity of pretty much everything. But long, complicated, and detailed does not make an engaging story.

This LMAO

"One must die and one must live. No victory, no defeat. The survivor will carry on the fight. It is our destiny... The one who survives will inherit the title of Boss. And the one who inherits the title of Boss will face an existence of endless battle."

HxH doesn't use history and lore. It's completely unknown except for a little bit in the Dark Continent arc. If Togashi wanted to, he could add some but as it stands its all about exploring the unknown. Don't confuse methodology with quality.

That's why all this "objective" crap is bogus. They're 2 completely different beasts and shouldn't be compared. HxH is not high fantasy, nor does it attempt to be.
