I used to be into heavy metal big time but I haven't listened to it in a while. I know when I did listen it was pretty much all I listened to and I ignorantly ignored pretty much everything else. Now I listen more to prog, and industrial.

So the metalcore trend is still alive, huh? I haven't noticed it at all ever since I graduated high school a couple years ago. Kinda funny how that works.

This is one of my go-to songs when I'm trying to piss off idiot kids at school who blare the same 3 Lil Wayne and Drake songs ad nauseum. Works every single time.

Vital Remains, Dying Fetus, and The Devil Wears Prada are also pretty effective for that purpose.

Waifu_Strangler: Not gonna lie, that was actually pretty cool. I think it actually kinda sounds like a minimalistic take on a metal song.

It's considered Power Electronics and it's from 1984 so it pre dates Death metal and Grindcore the metal genres it most resembles. I was quite impressed with it when I found it Of course only one or two other songs on the album sound like that it's largely experimental noise.

Point is if you restrict your self to just metal like I used to you really do miss out on a lot of great music that fulfills the same requirements you like from metal. Swans Cop is another album I like that's not metal but could easily be loved by a fan of doom metal or Golf less who the album inspired.

Consider myself being a metalhead. Listens mostly to deathcore, tech death, sympho death, melodeath, sympho black, prog death, funeral doom, metalcore and some bands from other metalgenres.

Some of my all-time favorites include NWOBHM, USPM, OSDM, black/thrash metal, Teutonic thrash metal, epic doom metal, epic heavy metal, and power/progressive metal.

I'm also part of a small metal forum. The link is here. Lots of great recommendations for many different genres and regions.

Most of my favorites are Goatwhore, Destroyer 666, Sadistic Intent, Bathory, 1349, Napalm Death, Sodom, Deathhammer, Venom, Mayhem (only the deathcrush and De mysteriis Dom Sathanas era) Hellhammer/Celtic Frost, and Darkthrone.

In music, I mainly like two things: sense of structure and groove. I don't listen to much metal music (I prefer rock over metal), but from time to time I listen to Meshuggah and Primus because they're kind of groovy.

Mercyful Fate, great taste! :)

I like all kinds of Metal, but mostly when it's melodic.

I used to listen to shit like, The Amity Affliction, Crown the Empire, Of Mice&Men, Memphis may Fire whatever you name it, basically metal for sad white Tumblr chicks who are all 13-16 years old. Glad I got over that "suicide is poetic" phase which was caused by Tumblr (fuck that site really)

So I kinda tuned down on the metal now, I still really like the first two albums of Bring Me The Horizon, so yeah Death Metal occasionally is nice.

I used to be a huge metal head. I used to listen to Slayer, Megadeth, Metallica, Exodus and Slipknot. I grew out of that "I'm so angry phase though" I went back to listening to rap, reggae and drum and bass. If I listen to metal these days, It's either Slipknot, Metallica and Mastodon.

You like Mastodon? Bruuuuuuuuh. Guys, if you haven't heard of Mastodon, go check them out.

I love their Once More Round the Sun album. They've become softer of the years but they still make good music.

Yeah, I noticed that, too. Don't know if it's for better or worse. I couldn't really get into their Remission album, but each album they release seems to get more enjoyable than the last. It's a shame they lost the Grammy to Tenacious D.
I love all their songs, but relating to OMRTS I like Tread Lightly and Halloween. Did OMRTHS Make a story at the end like Crack The Skye and Blood Mountain did?
