FAL Fall Season 2014 Banner Contest Purpose/Goal: The FAL Banner Contest is organized in order to involve the Fantasy Anime League and MyAnimeList community more closely with the FAL seasonal competitions. Anyone, whether they participate during that season or not, can participate in this contest if they wish to help out the FAL staff, make the season a bit more exciting, and add more to the overall experience. Up until now, every season FAL banners have depended on a few people to be made; however, starting this season, we would like to ease their burden and ask the community to help out by contributing with their own skills as well. Some of the text on the banner will later be generated automatically by a script, so it is important that participants read thoroughly and follow the set rules. Examples: Rules: - Any MAL user who participates in this contest is allowed to submit one work. - The size of the banner must be 350x75. - The banner created should contain official or fan-made artwork of a show from the Fall 2014 season, as well as the official FAL season name, username, and participant rank for that season, which should be in a simple, easy-to-script font. - Do not use fonts where any letters, numbers, as well as _ and - aren't displayed properly. - Even if fonts are displayed properly in your graphics program, they might not be generated properly by the script. Please provide another version with an alternative font just in case. - Make sure that long usernames are still readable. (The script will generate them in a smaller font size.) - Make sure that week/rank information fits for any possible length (i.e., week 1/14, rank 1/23/124). - Text fields generated by the script cannot have fancy font colors and effects. The entire text in one field must be in one color, i.e., no gradients, patterns, shadows, changing colors for "rank", "23", etc. A border or glow effect around the text in one color is fine. - All text fields can be horizontal, vertical, or at any other angle. - Add links to all fonts you're using in your submission. If the fonts are not online, please upload them to a free file hosting site, e.g., mediafire. - Submit your banner in one of these two ways: (1) One .psd file with at least two layers: one for the background and season name, one for all other text fields. All text fields must be on the banner as an example of how it should look like, but text that will be generated by the script later needs to be in separate layers so it can be made invisible to get a version of the banner without it. OR (2) Two .png files: a version with all text fields as an example of how it should look like and a version without the text fields for username, week, and rank. Text fields: 1. Season Name Text: FAL Fall 2014 This text will be on the template directly and will not be generated by the script. Different colors and font effects are okay. 2. Username This field contains the player's username and is generated by the script. 3. Week Text: Week X, week X, or WEEK X (e.g., Week 9, week 1, WEEK 14) This field is generated by the script. Please note that the text must be in one line; it is not possible to have a new line for the week number. 4. Rank Text: Rank X, rank X, or RANK X (e.g., Rank 1, rank 23, RANK 124; can have colons, e.g., Rank: 1), or Xth (e.g., 1st, 23rd, 124th, not "rank 1st") This field is generated by the script. Please note that the text must be in one line; it is not possible to have a new line for the rank number. Choosing Process: Completed banners should be sent via PM to FALbot until the extended deadline, October 4th 19:00 UTC. The chosen scripted banners will be posted on October 5th, the start of the second week. If you have any questions about the rules or the contest in general please post in this thread. This restriction applies to the rank and week text fields, but to each of them individually. Not possible: Rank X Possible: Rank X So Rank and X must be in the same line. And Week and X must be in the same line. But Rank X and Week X can be in different lines. I hope that's clearer now. |
