Putting a GIF or Picture in signature

I need some help:
Whenever I put a GIF in my signature it works for 2 hours and then it gives 404 error. I tried it with 5 different GIFs but it keeps happening. How can I fix this?
Also When I try to put a picture in my signature it shows the URL, or it shows nothing. Can anyone help me with this?
