Recently I came across Sakanamon and Kana-Boon and I'm really liking them too!

They're actually good especially the guitar which I think is smooth and has their own 'feel? Yes, KuroBasu. That's how I knew of them too.

Oldcodex is also goooooood. I like their vocalist and I hope I'm not being overly biased on Takao but what can I do. /sigh/'

Last year, there was this Jrock band that came to perform at the anime convention in my city, and after listening to them live, I fell in love with them.
Except, they are not very well known, so I thought I'll promote them a little ahaha

They are a visual kei band called Umbrella
(their band concept is: "Umbrella over your heart" which is like... the sweetest thing ever). So, I'm just going to leave a link to one of their songs (all of them are so good, so I just picked a random one)~ please check them out and show them some love :D <3

I have their 3 albums and singles on my music player :D I hope IKE san would recover, I was shocked wheb I saw his tweet saying that he is resigning from the band T.T I don't want them to disband :( Get well soon IKE san!!!

Next is FLOW! FLOW was my number 1 until I discovered SPYAIR :))

Then... UVERWorld. Aqua Timez. L'Arc~En~Ciel. ONE OK ROCK. And a lot more!

For me... I got into the whole "Japanese music" thing when I started listening to Ayumi Hamasaki because one of her songs was playing on some website I visited haha, and then I got more into Jrock from anime themes (^V^)
Aside from Japanese rock... I listen to Korean, and Taiwanese rock, but not English lol

I'm not into J-Rock, I know few bands, but I've discovered them because of some recommendations here and there-

I find western rock more appealing, a lor of them have interesting influences from latin music to rap and jazz.

Try Granrodeo, Pay Money to My Pain (PTP), Uverworld, and Spyair.
For more visual kei-like bands such as the gazettE, try L'Arc-en-Ciel, DIAURA, Alice Nine, An Cafe

Some female groups worth checking out:
Scandal, Stereopony, The Brilliant Green, Do As Infinity.

Haha... there are probably more, but if you listen to some songs on YouTube, similar groups usually appear on the suggested videos (^_^) at least that's how I got more into Jrock~

If you use Amazon you can get i'mperfect for like 7 bucks through digital download. But just about any band costs a bit more to import. I'd like to buy the rest of their albums but $20+ and a 2 week wait is a bit much for my wallet.
I also like some Plastic Tree if no ones mentioned them yet.

i hate downloads, refuse to pay for those. sorry.

the thing is, i got 2 LP's from Sete Star Sept some time ago for 30 euro total (also from japan), but trying to get one CD from Ling Toshite Shigure already costs me atleast the same. somethings not right there
i've been ordering albums from all over the world for quite some time now, but never did i have to pay that much.

well, only this one time i wanted to order Eyehategod's new album (on LP) and they wanted my to pay like 25 dollar shipping on top of it.. no way in hell i am going to pay that when i already got tons of LPs from there for around 8 dollar shippnig. i got it on CD later for a more fair price.

Some of my favorites include UPLIFT SPICE, Asian Kung-Fu Generation, Ling Toshite Shigure, ELLEGARDEN, FACT, the Pillows, Northern19, dustbox, Hello Sleepwalkers, Bump of Chicken, BEAT CRUSADERS, and coldrain.

I've still been looking around for some other acts that catch my interest. One Ok Rock has some pretty nice records, L'arc~en~Ciel isn't too bad themselves, UVERworld also has their fair share of memorable tracks, and so on.

Other than anime themes, its been through recommendations from Last.fm when I was using it. Nowadays, someone will tell me about a band or I'll just randomly pop into a music video for a band through YouTube and it'll start there. Yes, I listen to both J and English rock.
