Can someone explain this weird timeline to me?

Okay so I'm really enjoying this anime I'm currently on episode 9 but it's gotten to a point where I'm super confused about the order of events. In episode 2 Keiichi learns about the deaths of Tomi and Taka through detective Oishi but later on her learns about it through Shion (Mion?) over the phone, what's up with that? This contradicts episode 2 entirely.. Can someone explain to me without any SPOILERS, if it is explained in later episodes let me know, thanks!
