| I want to create a manga (I am American, so I guess you could say it is a manga- styled graphic novel.) I know that it has to be Japanese to be a manga. However, I told other writers of my desire and they directed me to American manga, which looks nothing like manga imo. If I make my manga look Japanese (read from right to left, no color, etc) would that make it more successful or would I fail just because I am not Japanese? |
| If you would try to publish it in a Japanese magazine, then your chances are close to zero. You need to know Japanese perfectly and live in Japan as well as be really lucky to have it published there. However, you can publish it online as a web comic, which can be in any style you want - Western, Japanese, Korean, Chinese, whatever. If it's good, I'm sure it would get some attention. |

| Unfortunately the chances of success aren't very likely. The only OEL manga I've ever seen get big tend to be adaptions of pre-existing material. That said, there's no reason not to try anyway. Just don't quit your day job. |
