Include Michelle Cheung and Maggie Mui from R.O.D the TV since it was just Anita King that didn't like books.

Characters relations - Makishima Shougo, from Psycho-Pass. This guy really likes books.

I really wish more Light Novels would get translated here. I've read 2 Zaregotos by Nisioisn and 2 Book Girl books, but I wish the Zaregotos would get translated faster already. It was a crazy long wait between the first and the 2nd. I'd also wish they'd translate his Bakemonogatari series since it's such a huge anime now.

I have to agree that Harry Potter gave a push to more paranormal romances novels coming out. But Twilight just gave it that final push and it exploded. So bad that I gag every time I see a Twilight paranormal romance knock off in the teen section. I've moved on to the Sci-Fi/Fantasy section of the bookstore. Or I save my money and borrow books from the library or a friend.

It's true that it definitely was Harry Potter that got publishers looking into authors with ideas for a series. Eragon and Percy Jackson definitely comes to mind and of course, the freak accident that is Twilight. I worked at a Borders and you could see the influence that it had with all of the series books coming in. Then after Twilight happened, ugh. The glut of horrible "Twilight but...." books that came in. Twilight but with more werewolves, twilight but with angels, twilight but not twilight.

Super late reply, but I was thinking specifically of YA Paranormal Romances and not of the fantasy genre in general.
I have no idea whatinfluence the Harry Potter series had, but the impression I got was that it got children and teenagers into reading.
The Host is on my to read list. People seemed to have enjoyed it more than the Twilight series so I'm taking that as a good omen :)

I didn't really have a set number in mind, but let's say individuals from about teenage to people in their thirties.
Talking about paranormal novels the Harry Potter series sold over 400 million copies to Twilight's over 100 million copies. I would think that Harry Potter may very well have been the primary push for paranormal novels into the limelight rather than the Twilight series.
I really enjoyed the Host by Stephenie Meyer by the way.

Whether you like her or not, Stephenie Meyer seems to have had a big influence on YA. After her Twilight series came out, there seemed to be a boom in YA Paranormal Romances; if not in the amount of them that's being published, then in their amount of popularity.

And by current generation do you mean the people who are currently in their teens/twenties?
