Emily wanted to remodel her house in order to convert it into a hotel. However, whenever she tried to hire somebody to get the job done, they would quit, saying the house was haunted. Doors were always slamming shut and items were always floating. One day, when she arrived home, she found Meowth's claw marks on the door handle. After looking through the house, she found Ash and his friends. They explained to her that they took shelter in the mansion because of the bad weather, and now they were looking for Max, who had gone missing.
After finding Max, Emily realized why everybody kept thinking the house was haunted; a Shuppet was living in the house and wanted to play with everyone. Later, they all ran into Jessie, James, and Meowth, who had all come in to seek shelter. Jessie and James used Seviper and Cacnea in an attempt to steal Pikachu, but they were stopped by Shuppet and sent blasting off. Emily remembered this Shuppet, because as a little girl she and the Ghost Pokémon had played together.
Emily told Ash and the others that she and Shuppet would work together to help convert the house into a hotel. She also invited Ash and the others to stay in the hotel. However, neither Emily nor the hotel has been mentioned since that episode.
