Week 2 gave:

Lv2 kara Cheat datta Motoyuusha Kouho no Mattari Isekai Life (Chillin' in Another World with Level 2 Super Cheat Powers)
Tadaima, Okaeri
Unnamed Memory
KonoSuba S3
Kaii to Otome to Kamikakushi (Mysterious Disappearances)
Seiyuu Radio no Uraomote (The Many Sides of Voice Actor Radio)
Kenka Dokugaku (Viral Hit)
Maou Gakuin no Futekigousha II: Shijou Saikyou no Maou no Shiso, Tensei shite Shison-tachi no Gakkou e Kayou Part 2 (THe Misfit of Demon King Academy S2P2)
Kaiju 8-gou (Kaiju No. 8)
Sasayaku You ni Koi wo Utau (Whisper Me a Love Song)
The New Gate

Yes, there were other things, remember: if Shext hasn't seen the previous seasons yet, they won't be listed here. But on that note: Shext blitzed through Kimetsu no Yaiba and what an absolute banger of an anime. Swordsmith Village Arc was ABSOLUTE ART. Currently working through Boku no Hero. Then Shext just has to get through the other like 4 anime that have multiple seasons with a new one running this season. :bocchidead: emoji.

As for the new arrivals:
Lv2 Cheat Powers is adorable trash.
Tadaima, Okaeri is cute, but....too cozy for Shext. Bravern is more Shext's speed for BL.
Unnamed Memory is mid, but could improve over time
KonoSuba is also ABSOLUTE ART
Kaii to Otome to Kamikakushi: All of the booba points were dumped here. 巨乳>おっぱい, good low-key spooky.
Seiyuu Radio no Uraomote is cute and fun, the facial art is a liiiiiittle weird in ep 1 tho
Kenka Dokugaku is Korean and that means it'll be about revenge. Everyone is a bad person.
Demon King Academy Pt 2 was everything Shext expected it to be: Anos is OP, the girls love him, the Royalists die cry.
Kaiju No. 8 has A BANGER soundtrack and is easily one of the hypest ep1's of the season.
Sasayaku You ni Koi wo Utau was CUTE AF. Positively adorable. Music + Yuri = Gold
The New Gate is like Overlord but not-evil. Which isn't as compelling, but it's trash, and as a trashy-anime enjoyer, Shext won't complain too much.

The Banished Former Hero was dropped after ep3. It's bad. Really really bad. Also dropped were: Tadaima, Okaeri (as they mentioned, it's cute and not bad. Just not Shext's speed, at this point in time at least. Also Shext has no idea what the Omega-verse is.), Jiisan Baasan Wakagaeru (It was fine. But it wasn't for Shext), Vampire Dormitory (It didn't grab Shext and suck their blood, was low-key disappointed it wasn't a vampire BL.), and Hananoi-kun to Koi no Yamai (It was also fine; apparently Shext just is not in the mood for shoujo romances this season).

The Idolm@ster Shiny Colors started week 1 but Shext just got around to watching it. It's got very good CG. Shext is a sucker for idol anime, so uh...

It's actually music anime in general Shext is a sucker for. So Shext is mad that Girl Band Cry didn't get localized in the US. WTF, the US. Give us all the anime, please.

----------------------------

Going strictly on currently released episodes Shext has arranged the new series into the tiers:

Train!!!!: Shuumatsu Train Doko e Iku?

Strong Starters: Henjin no Salad Bowl, Wind Breaker, Tensei shitara Dainana Ouji Datta node, Kimama ni Majutsu wo Kiwamemasu, Sentai Daishikkaku

The Ingredients are All There: Yoru no Kurage wa Oyogenai, One Room, Hiatari Futsuu, Tenshi-tsuki., Maou no Ore ga Dorei Elf wo Yome ni Shitanda ga, Dou Medereba Ii?, Ookami to Koushinryou: Merchant Meets the Wise Wolf, Blue Archive the Animation, Tonari no Youkai-san

What It Says On the Tin: Astro Note, Bartender: Kami no Glass, Hananoi-kun to Koi no Yamai, Highspeed Etoile, Re:Monster, Jiisan Baasan Wakagaeru

Skeptical Optimism: Kami wa Game ni Ueteiru., The Fable, Vampire Dormitory

2 Strikes: Dekisokonai to Yobareta Motoeiyuu wa Jikka kara Tsuihou sareta node Sukikatte ni Ikiru Koto ni Shita

----------------------------

The first episode of Shuumatsu Train is....just watch it. Don't ask questions, just go do it. Shext is VERY interested to see what this show has in store.

In the Strong Starters tier we have a middle-aged detective and a reverse-isekai'd loli princess buddy cop story, Bucchigiri but without genies and hopefully more character development, the most feminine shota Shext has ever seen fighting in the most impressive sakuga of the season pilots, and a Sentai series Evil Grunt infiltrating the Rangers team.

In All the Ingredients are There there are: Idol girls anime with gorgeous art, 2 harem rom-coms, Spice and Wolf reboot, BlueAka, and a cozy supernatural slice-of-life. Please forgive Shext, they haven't seen the original Spice and Wolf, so they have no idea if it's good other than it's predecessor's popularity. All of these should be AT LEAST 7/10's if they deliver what they promise in their first episodes. But there's time for them to flop. *cries in Bucchigiri?!?*. Shext wishes BlueAka's Sensei would have been female, but that PROBABLY would have upset like 70% of the player base.

What It Says On the Tin: "Shext, wtf is supposed to be in a tin labelled Astro Note?" A love letter from an alien, obviously. Bartending anime but less mid-2000's adult-swim aesthetic than Snack Basue, Autistic girl gets an ikemen bf, Good Smile Racing's hyper-formula 1 racing anime, monster isekai in the same season as Slime seems like a poor choice, and 4koma gag anime about Grandparents becoming young again (now with 100% more weird jokes about a granddaugher hitting on her grandfather). These could be 7/10s but could just as easily get dropped.

Skeptical Optimism includes: This season's ecchi (death)game series, Hitman and Driver pretend to be siblings and lead a normal life, and Vampire not-a-BL bait and switch. The alternate title of this tier is Weak Starters. Maybe they'll be Late Bloomers, but historically the feelings Shext gets from anime like these lead to getting dropped. Gods' Games doesn't actually have much ecchi or death content and the color palates bother Shext, but it's just interesting enough to keep up for now. The Fable has the most potential, but the MC is pretty obnoxious.

2 Strikes: Fantasy harem with a negligible plot and lazy animation. It launched with 2 episodes and if the 3rd one doesn't grab Shext, it's out. SERIOUSLY bad animation though.

Detour to talk about Tsukimichi -Moonlit Fantasy-, which is continuing S2 from Winter 2024: What an underrated series. Maybe not quite as good as KonoSuba, but VERY worth a watch if the reader enjoys isekai satire. With 2 high quality OP waifus, a charming cast, and a generally hilarious story, Shext is genuinely upset that it doesn't have more of a following, at least if number of fanarts are anything to go by. What? Why is the reader looking at Shext that way? URUSAI, BAKA. For real though, Shext sat down to watch it since S2 was continuing this season and watched all 25 current episode in one sitting, they enjoyed it that much.

Osu! Having waited the required amount of time, the eldritch floof known as Shext can begin making blog posts.

Not so long ago, a time-traveling scientist happened upon an otaku, wandering aimlessly through the wastes of the internet. The otaku, devoid of purpose, agreed to become the scientist's test subject. Over time and after numerous experiments, the otaku's physical body broke down, becoming an amorphous black mass, though their mind and love for anime remained. One day, while testing the effects of extended periods of exposure to the abyssal energy of the void, the scientist was called away, leaving the the otaku-slime within the void for much longer than intended. When the slime, Shext, was finally pulled out, their form had solidified into a smol, furry-eared creature, their mind irreparably warped, and their hunger for anime insatiable.

Thus did Shext determined that they would watch every anime or die trying.

Here Shext will be reporting on the anime that they watch, give their opinion on things they have or are currently watching, and generally express their love and passion for the medium. Shext will look at anime elements critically, but also likes to enjoy things, so most anime will be considered good until it is not. Shext will attempt to obfuscate what they consider to be spoilers. Numeric scores of anime will reflect how good and/or enjoyable Shext thinks a given series/season is. The reader may disagree with Shext and think that they are an insane degenerate for giving Keijo!!!!!!!! a 9/10. That is okay. Shext and the reader can have differing opinions. The reader may think Shext is cringe for writing a backstory and referring to themself in 3rd person. That is okay. As the saying goes: Shext is cringe, but Shext is free.

Both lists are generally adhered to, but both can and will have exceptions.

Shext's Most Favorite Anime is: Kill la Kill
There has yet to be an anime that Shext was so quickly sold on. The animation is spectatacular. The story is fun. The characters are endearing. In Shext's opinion it is basically flawless. Reminder that "favorite anime" and "best anime" are not necessarily the same thing.

Shext's Least Favorite Anime (that they have seen): Berserk
Before the reader starts organizing a floof hunt to find and try Shext for anime crimes, please refer back to the what Shext about having differing opinions. The first 22 episodes were phenomenal. Then:

and that just ruined the whole thing for Shext. "But Shext, it gets better if you read the manga." Shext does not care. Shext's disappointment was immeasurable and their day was ruined.

That should cover all the basics. In the next post, Shext will talk about their impressions of Week 1 of the Spring 2024 season. o7
