Going strictly on currently released episodes Shext has arranged the new series into the tiers:

Train!!!!: Shuumatsu Train Doko e Iku?

Strong Starters: Henjin no Salad Bowl, Wind Breaker, Tensei shitara Dainana Ouji Datta node, Kimama ni Majutsu wo Kiwamemasu, Sentai Daishikkaku

The Ingredients are All There: Yoru no Kurage wa Oyogenai, One Room, Hiatari Futsuu, Tenshi-tsuki., Maou no Ore ga Dorei Elf wo Yome ni Shitanda ga, Dou Medereba Ii?, Ookami to Koushinryou: Merchant Meets the Wise Wolf, Blue Archive the Animation, Tonari no Youkai-san

What It Says On the Tin: Astro Note, Bartender: Kami no Glass, Hananoi-kun to Koi no Yamai, Highspeed Etoile, Re:Monster, Jiisan Baasan Wakagaeru

Skeptical Optimism: Kami wa Game ni Ueteiru., The Fable, Vampire Dormitory

2 Strikes: Dekisokonai to Yobareta Motoeiyuu wa Jikka kara Tsuihou sareta node Sukikatte ni Ikiru Koto ni Shita

----------------------------

The first episode of Shuumatsu Train is....just watch it. Don't ask questions, just go do it. Shext is VERY interested to see what this show has in store.

In the Strong Starters tier we have a middle-aged detective and a reverse-isekai'd loli princess buddy cop story, Bucchigiri but without genies and hopefully more character development, the most feminine shota Shext has ever seen fighting in the most impressive sakuga of the season pilots, and a Sentai series Evil Grunt infiltrating the Rangers team.

In All the Ingredients are There there are: Idol girls anime with gorgeous art, 2 harem rom-coms, Spice and Wolf reboot, BlueAka, and a cozy supernatural slice-of-life. Please forgive Shext, they haven't seen the original Spice and Wolf, so they have no idea if it's good other than it's predecessor's popularity. All of these should be AT LEAST 7/10's if they deliver what they promise in their first episodes. But there's time for them to flop. *cries in Bucchigiri?!?*. Shext wishes BlueAka's Sensei would have been female, but that PROBABLY would have upset like 70% of the player base.

What It Says On the Tin: "Shext, wtf is supposed to be in a tin labelled Astro Note?" A love letter from an alien, obviously. Bartending anime but less mid-2000's adult-swim aesthetic than Snack Basue, Autistic girl gets an ikemen bf, Good Smile Racing's hyper-formula 1 racing anime, monster isekai in the same season as Slime seems like a poor choice, and 4koma gag anime about Grandparents becoming young again (now with 100% more weird jokes about a granddaugher hitting on her grandfather). These could be 7/10s but could just as easily get dropped.

Skeptical Optimism includes: This season's ecchi (death)game series, Hitman and Driver pretend to be siblings and lead a normal life, and Vampire not-a-BL bait and switch. The alternate title of this tier is Weak Starters. Maybe they'll be Late Bloomers, but historically the feelings Shext gets from anime like these lead to getting dropped. Gods' Games doesn't actually have much ecchi or death content and the color palates bother Shext, but it's just interesting enough to keep up for now. The Fable has the most potential, but the MC is pretty obnoxious.

2 Strikes: Fantasy harem with a negligible plot and lazy animation. It launched with 2 episodes and if the 3rd one doesn't grab Shext, it's out. SERIOUSLY bad animation though.

Detour to talk about Tsukimichi -Moonlit Fantasy-, which is continuing S2 from Winter 2024: What an underrated series. Maybe not quite as good as KonoSuba, but VERY worth a watch if the reader enjoys isekai satire. With 2 high quality OP waifus, a charming cast, and a generally hilarious story, Shext is genuinely upset that it doesn't have more of a following, at least if number of fanarts are anything to go by. What? Why is the reader looking at Shext that way? URUSAI, BAKA. For real though, Shext sat down to watch it since S2 was continuing this season and watched all 25 current episode in one sitting, they enjoyed it that much.
