Rant: earthquake/tsunami in japan and the disgusting responses from it
the earthquake and tsunami in japan is a complete travesty, one of the worst things to happen in a long time. so many lives were lost, many people suffering now, buildings and homes destroyed. it's a very sad moment. i'm glad to see many countries trying to help japan in this time of need.
what i'm not glad to see, however, was the shocking and flat out disturbing people said regarding this matter
i want you all reading this, to take a look at this image i found on a youtube video. it features some of the most appalling reception to a natural disaster i've ever heard in my life.

that's right, these people refuse to give a helping hand to japan because of pearl harbor.
an event that happened 60 YEARS AGO!
trust me i wish this was a (sick) joke.
i'm sorry but how is something that happened in the past relevant today? that's because IT'S NOT RELEVANT! IT'S THE PAST, YOU FUCKING MORONS!
it is at this point that i've lost faith in, not just humanity, but the new generation, because it's filled with complete ignorant imbeciles. any person with half a brain cell, wouldn't post such shit like:
"enough about the japs who gives a shit they bombed pearl harbor let them all die they would be happy if that happened to us!"
NO THEY WOULDN'T YOU BRAINLESS ASSHOLE!
america and japan are allies now! as i stated, all that happened in the past! you'd think that time went on japan would begin to feel sorry for bombing a US navy base in hawaii and ask for forgiveness (after we bombed them back). well such is the case now. but no, people don't think so and bring up an old event thinking it's relevant to today. retards.
after i heard that, i ended up losing faith in youtube partners. why? because one YT partner, named lifeinatent, EXPLOITED THE CAUSE IN JAPAN FOR MONEY! no joke people. you all can find videos including rants and commentaries of him on youtube now. this guy disgusts me, he actually said thumbs up this video and called the earthquake "EPIC". he called an 8.8 earthquake "epic", even though that very same "epic" earthquake took over a thousand lives in the process.
all this guy cared about was his goddamn partnership and the money he'll make off of this.
you now see why this man disgusts me?
his reaction to the people calling him out? flagging videos and acting like a butthurt crybaby, by that i mostly meant "trying" to defend himself from this (and failing horribly mind you).

my friend artist-for-hire made a blog about this and i thought i bring it up too. on a blog on funimation's website, people were upset about the cause and are willing donate, one user though named hectotane had this to say:

I once saw a video of a lady who was happy about what happened to Japan because she believed that God was opening their eyes and bringing His wrath down on them because Japan is an atheist country. I just wanted to shout "GTFO of my religion, woman! You're making us look bad!"Ugh, my faith in humanity is waning more and more each passing day. And that guy/gal who believed that what happened to Japan was karma for making anime he/she didn't like needs a serious kick in the face. Just sayin'. |

Sorry for the random and late comment, but yes, these people are mentally ill. Really? Karma for Pearl Harbor?? Google Pearl Harbor death toll to compare??Here, courtesy of the Wikipedia Pearl Harbor page: The overall death toll reached 2,350, including 68 civilians. Yes, over 2000 people killed is bad. But you know what? That was WAR! And all but 68 people who died were military. They were prepared to lay their lives on the line. I know when some of these comments were made the full extent of the Japan disaster probably wasn't realized yet, but then again it probably was. A quick Google search and it's said that over 18,000 people died as a result of this. Yeah, over six times the amount of Pearl Harbor and likely almost 100% civilian since they don't have much of a real army anymore anyway. Not to mention this is an act of nature, not of war. And you know what? Looking back again, the two A-bombs we dropped? About 200,000 Japanese dead, mostly civilians. Yeah, mental ill indeed. Oh, and by the way, come this December it will actually be the 70 year anniversary of the Pearl Harbor. Over 90% of the people who died in Japan disaster wouldn't have even been old enough to have been a part of the Pearl Harbor attack. And all of the higher ranking officials who actually made the decision to make the attack are probably all long dead anyway. This is like black people in America getting pissed at whites for slavery. Just dumb. That is all. |

Just shows how one-sided (or dumb) these people are to remember Pearl Habour so well and not remembering any of the atrocities they committed, stuff like dropping the atomic bomb on Japan and using agent orange against civilians in Vietnam. At least we can take heart in the fact these people are only a minority and, hopefully, most of the population do have a brain and a heart that subscribes to logic.

That...was really shocking. I'm horrified that people can even think about such a horrific disaster like that. Rather than thinking about the country and past mistakes made, they should think about the people. The humans, just like us, who are suffering and in a world of hurt. Those comments just show how selfish people these days can be.That comment about the anime industry was especially sickening. Why someone would wish such a disaster as the one currently occurring over a TV SHOW is beyond me. I totally agree with you on how how this shows how much of a loss in humanity there is and how moronic this generation can be. Not all hope should be lost though because I'm pretty sure those morons make up less than half the new generation. Most of the people I know care alot for what happened in Japan and didn't even think about Pearl Harbor. |

Wow. I knew people would help out, but for others to just say, "Fuck you" or something, they're brainless! I mean, why hate them?! IT'S RIDICULOUS!!! Japan's the country that have created anime!! If it weren't for them, I wouldn't have got into Gintama, Clannad, Spirited Away, etc.Those douchebags can suck on it. Also, I'd love to donate too! But I'm pretty much broke. T^T Hope the people in Japan will be all right. |

I pretty much agree with you on everything what douchebag pricks and it looks like that one dude took down the video and how is an eathquake epic?? I'm sure he wouldn't be talking like that if he was there or experienced something similar. Also I don't think Japan made fun of us and called it epic when 9/11 happened I don't know if they helped us by donating or not though.I would donate to Japan, but I don't hate credit card or paypal and I think you have to weigh a certain amount before donating blood to Red Cross and I probably won't meet those requirements since I'm below 100lbs -___- although its not much they do have my emotional support. On another note I loved Sora no Otoshimono and IS is decent so far. If the person hated those series so much why did he continue watching them its not like the Japanese are forcing him to watch their series in the first place anyways. |
