AironicallyHuman's Blog

Jan 20, 2010 12:52 PM
In the spirit of making non-anime/manga blog posts on an anime/manga social networking site, before resuming rambling about my current manga obsession(s), I felt compelled to blog about something very different: the people on my ignore list.

I'm not doing this for trolling purposes. Going on how all but the more popular members get an average of 0-1 responses per blog post, this wouldn't be the ideal platform for getting a reaction out of others. No, I'm doing this for two reasons: one is my inability to remember much of anything after a bit of time has passed due to me being a goldfish, the other is boredom. If I'm still a member of MAL in a few years, and the internet hasn't died, then I'd like to know why I have people ignored, and you never know - it might provide me with a giggle or two!

Here's my current list:

I'm going to type a little about each person listed. But before that, I feel the following link to a forum post of mine might assist with understanding just how arguments get started with my sarcastic self: http://myanimelist.net/forum/?topicid=151968&show=60#msg7062498

One person took my comments at face value. Another read between the lines. The people I usually find myself in keyboard warfare with tend to be those who have a broken sarcasm detector.

Okay 1) this is a hilarious post written well, definitely a good read
2) I have bitched about this before so I know how it could seem petty, but just "reaffirming" that it definitely happens. People have mass attacked my reviews but in the funniest way - 1) only the front page of reviews (too lazy to click next) 2) only usually downvoting them to about 50%, like I think that any time someone saw one even one vote under 50% they thought "hark, my work here is finished" and moved on to downvoting the rest.

This all specifically happened when I uploaded very relatively unpopular reviews in terms of pissing people off - the first wave happened with my Darker Than Black review, and then the second wave that took EVERYTHING under or to 50% happened with Kemono no Souja Erin. Space Adventure Cobra went from 7/9 --> 9/18, Kanishimi no Belladonna was something very similar, 7/8 I believe, and is now 9/19; Giant Robo I believe was 7/10 and is now 9/21.

The sad climax was with Durarara, which only begat attacks on my Kemono no Souja Erin and Darker Than Black reviews...I was such a used up troll that they were not even bothering clicking them all...

Finding myself sitting here, wondering how I found my way to this blog entry. Although there's 10 minutes right there I'll never get back, I must confess this amused me as well, having received a slight overreaction from one of the queens at some point myself.

I'm actually quite embarrassed by some of the statements you've pointed out here - some even make me feel like I'm back by the lunch table in high-school. The stalker-part was simply hilarious. Just wanted to assure you that Swedish women are mostly pleasant (at least the ones I know).

Long live sarcasm and the douchebags who know how to use it.

Oh, now I remember. I was going to compliment you on your Hi no Tori review. And now that I read this I remember noticing how unfairly low the rating of your review was - guess now I know why x)

Dude, YoungVagabond is hilarious. I always get a laugh out of his posts.

Though I guess I can't deny that he's a blunt asshole who likes to troll people for being younger than him.

I'm not talking about my Ikigami blog/review. I mean someone, or a group of very bitter people went through my reviews -1ing. Before the whobody saga, my Me-Teru review, for example, was at 7/10. Now it's at 7/15 or something (prior to my Ikigami post; when I checked.)

Skadi has a lot of love for her 'stalker', in short. More than I thought based on her -1 comment. But it wasn't unexpected, and it's been awhile since mass -1ing upset me.

Your comment? It was four/five words long. If you don't want to talk to a troll, there wasn't any point continuing to tease you, so I deleted it and moved on. I didn't want to hurt your feelings, Joe.

Would you have preferred me ask who exactly it is you do talk to, Dark-whatever aside?

Bit too late for that - already happened. Not that I didn't expect it, but somewhere between the latest e-drama, this blog post being being made and Skadi making the wise choice to take her comments to MSN/PMs after reading my comments about her, I've been hit by something like 4-5 mass review negatives. Either Skadi is more vindictive than I assumed or tehno's fanclub has been very busy.

When you insult someone popular, the sheep get angry. That's something I've learned in the past. Now, if only I could put effort into learning to avoid upsetting any other MAL queen(s)...

This blog entry entertained me quite a bit. Five bucks says that you only enrage more of tehnominator's friends.

It was naive of me to believe that, because few read blog posts on MAL, I'd be safe from arguments breaking out. I can see this turning fairly ugly from this point onwards... I should've either kept this entry private since it was made for myself or disabled comments.

First, I applaud you for not pouncing on me in anger and, though not removing the armour, at least putting down your sword before entering. When GMail informed me someone had actually replied to a blog entry of mine, I did fear the worst; making sure to practice breathing exercises before entering.

But, for all the effort you put in, you still messaged both tehno AND Skadi straight after reading. As much as you want to come across as reasonable, you'd already picked your side long before reading because of "knowing tehno for a long time." I can understand - a person should defend their friends when they come under attack - but you being involved with tehno means we're never going to agree.

Sarcasm isn't the reason I've argued with everyone on this list - that's only true for 4/6, and those four include and/or are related to tehno.

I'm no angel, and I've tore myself apart a few times elsewhere. I even explained the reasoning behind my sarcasm on my profile. I'm not saying I'm the innocent victim and EVERYONE listed was 100% in the wrong. If you got that impression, then I wasn't clear enough because I intended this for my eyes only.

For example, whobody. Skadi seems to believe I messaged her because of some twisted love I hold for her, but the truth is whobody messaged me first - long before this new drama. We had a lengthy PM exchange, which started after she read a blog entry of mine and claimed to understand me better. Because of this, I removed my virtual sheath; using sarcasm without restriction, and that's what lead to antitype's hit and run. If I had taken our original encounter into consideration before typing, this latest shit wouldn't have happened, and I wouldn't be here typing this.

As for my comments about Skadi, when a person calls me a stalker, laughs about going through my reviews -1ing because I suck and tells everyone she can about how nasty I am (look over her recent comments) when she isn't even directly involved, then I'm going to get annoyed. And then, being the immature soul I am, I'm going to take her stalker comment and reverse it on her. Two wrongs don't make a right, no, but I'm only human.

Social science? You could say that. I like to test people to see how they react, like when I commented in your general direction with my head above the clouds early in the morning. That's just my way. Some people get offended, others see the funny side. That's just how it goes. Ill-advised, maybe, but I can't change my brain.

...I'll leave this here. I'm sure, when I turn on my PC next, this will have turned into another e-drama saga, but I'm not intending to reply like this every time. I've said my piece and that's that - arguing over my feelings isn't going to change anything.
