-both give the same vibe to how a girl and a guy cannot meet each other even though they love each other the ending to both of them were very similiar. -but if you are watching violet evergarden then watch the tv series and the first movie otherwise you won't be able to understand this movie. -btw i love the violet evergarden movie more than kimi no na wa:)

Both have THE BEST fantasy visuals in my eyes, and both discover the meaning of love so beautifully that I can't praise both of them enough. Both of them are animated fantasy movies at its finest. Just that Maquia is a stand alone movie and Violet evergarden movie is a continuation of its TV series which is equally beautiful.

Its not much on similar on the first one but the main heroine lost the person that she loved on the time of the war taking into literature, believing that the person is still alive in the end

Both movies are adapted from novels; Violet Evergarden from a light novel series published by Kyoto Animation and Dog of Flanders from a classic novel. Both of the movies have emotional themes which emphasized on loyalty and love relationships which will touch your hearts forever as you watch it from the beginning to the ending!
