Both series mainly revolve around a girl with pink hair who has a sick obsession with a single individual. Happy Sugar Life is less fantasy focused, but it maintains a similar atmosphere of unsettling delusions and shows the true horror of stalking. You may find yourself sympathizing with morally reprehensible characters, or enjoy watching the train-wreck unfold as the possessive yandere characters struggle for power and control.

The type of characters you get in this show, how they monologue and their flaws are all very similar.

Cute girl see world in a bit strange way in both anime

Horror anime which seem to rely more on psychological shock than visual shock, though you might get some of the visual as well. A similar "what the hell" mentality is incited when watching either for the first time. There are characters who can be described as yandere in both with a single-minded dedication to their love.

Both are horror Anime Characters and VA is same for kana hanazawa

I recommend since there is a similar relationship in both of these animes. Though happy sugar life is more darker. There is a bunch of school girls having to deal with a scary and dark situation.

Both series are examinations of deeply flawed characters who seem to be morally vacant and adrift. Both series examine in depth the consequences of love gone wrong.

Unstable girls doing the most horrific things, sometimes with a smile. Psychological, gory, thrilling. Also, gay undertones.

Similarities: -Psychotic high school girls work swiftly and intelligently to cover their tracks as they aim for their objectives -Thriller -Dark Themes -Both anime get their plots started at about the same speed and they don't ever turn off the brakes -Really, the MC's are crazy and that's a good thing! Differences: -Nana's universe has super powers while HSL does not -Main reason for MC's actions are different. Nana is more of a military thing while HSL is more personal If you liked the MC from one of these anime, the other is a must watch. You will not be disappointed.

Both shows are about fucked up love and inner thoughts of the characters.

The two series share a premise: a tough, mentally broken heroine searching for the meaning of love. The heroines are both highly competent and badass, but have to face the consequences of the blood on their hands. The love they eventually stumble upon is unconventional, asymmetric and bound for disappointment. That being said these series are clearly meant for different audiences and espouse different worldviews. Violet Evergarden could be called grimbright while Happy Sugar Life is your classic grimdark.

Both show start with the same situation: an underaged girl is sheltered by some non-related older person. Throughout both show, you'll learn to like this situation and the outine that is setting up even if it's illegal and you'll wich for it to last forever. They also explore some kind of childhood traumas although in different ways. However, Hige wo soru takes place in a more realistic univers than Happy Sugar Life because in HSL most of the characters are crazy.

Every major character in both shows is a combination of psycho, rapist, pedo, etc. and there's a lot of really f***ed up scenes and mind manipulation. The way Keyaru grooms his party is similar to what Satou does for Shio who's underaged.

It might give you not the same creepy, is much shorter and not supernatural but if you just love absolute Chaos and Psychos all over the place, then you should give it a try! Short Summary: -Includes female Yandere Protagonist -Includes many other psychotic characters -Involves Crimes -Ends in Tragedy

Both have a pink haired girl, deal with love that is in a way a mess, have a high school student and are dark in places, one being a horror, the other being a dark drama.

Psychologically disturbing, centering around the insidious nature of child abuse, and pinning adults using their power over children as the main threat, Happy Sugar Life and Promised Neverland may have two completely different story lines, but share a lot of similarities when it comes to the ingenuity of young characters overcoming hideous individuals. Happy Sugar Life is possibly one of the more controversial anime out there. Our main character once a victim of abuse now uses her defense mechanism- a strong intuition about people who are malicious, and a ability to manipulate people which she uses on these antagonists to obtain her goals. the characters have more than one personality, and both are very psychological

If you're looking for a bunch of characters with twisted love, both shows will definitely meet your needs.

Two very well-written yanderes, working hard to protect their loved ones from a dark, violent world. Happy Sugar Life is a good bit more disturbing than Mirai Nikki, but if you liked Yuno Gasai and are tired of finding yandere characters that try and fail to replicate her, you will also love Satou Matsuzaka not because she tries to mimic the infamous Goddess of Yanderes but because she carries the yandere genre in a way that is very compelling and unique to her character and story. Also, both shows are very short at only one season each.

both of them are mostly about crime, full of violence and bloodshed, cute and dark at the same time. it's also about the friendship or precious relationships between two girls. another bonus highlights is both of the mc working in the maid cafe.

In universal view, one is 'healing',one is 'crazy'. However, the escape is same. To find a shelter away from the more absurd and grotesque 'real world. The persistence is same.Beholding own belief, they both dare explore and fight towards unknown fogs till death, rather than withering or merging in that 'real world'. Yeah, one is 'injustice' and 'bloody',one is for 'humankind' and 'history'. Does those moral concepts really matter? When they are just some debris form the glorious asshole of the doctrine from the 'real world'. Cherish these AUTHENTIC odysseys which reveal the private selves among us.

I guess like the MC's are cute on the outside but kill people and the animes have a lot of blood.

Its a really hard understanding story, mental ill main carathers and a sub-love story

Both are heavily related to psychology, while Grisaia explores greater themes and more of them, HSL focuses on smaller cast of characters, allowing to know them better and explore their motivations. Message in both is great and not-so-often seen among mainstream anime

-MC is Serial killer -MC is potrayed as a seemingly good guy -A lot of sociological/psychological type stuff -Very grim anime, Artwise and storywise -Antagonists try to stop the MC from doing bad.

Both series are about people keeping up a facade of normal life while hiding their crimes. Both series focus on plot rather than aesthetics. The narrative style is also quite similar — the suspense (of which both series have a lot!) comes more from (morbid) curiosity about what is going to happen next, rather than from a larger mystery being revealed.

Both feature lesbian love with taboo elements and are more based in character and relationship exploration rather than actual plot.

Urahara and Happy Sugar Life are very similar in art style, using candy in the backgrounds with pastel color schemes. The two are very different in tone and plot structure, with Happy Sugar Life being a very dark and violent plot-heavy show while Urahara is a lighter and more action-oriented magical girl show. Characters in Urahara are also presented in a far more positive light than the commonly evil characters of Happy Sugar Life.

Both leave a very sweet aftertaste from main characters' interaction, even though genres couldn't be more different

Happy Sugar life doesn't have magic or fighting but both Kisara and Satou look alomost identical and are both yanderes that will do anything in order to protect the ones they love.
report Recommended by MonkeyDnatsu
The female lead of both series are horrible villains, yet are also very sympathetic and likeable. Through their background stories we're made to question how culpable are they truly for their grotesque deeds. Also, both series contrast mundane slice of life moments with sheer terror so the viewer is never comfortable watching, since something bad could happen at any moment.

At first glance these two slice of life anime might seem different, but they both dig into unusual obsessions particularly towards underage children and the complicated side of how people connect. Whether it's the sweet and funny relationships in Wataten or the intense and kind of creepy love in Happy Sugar Life, both shows shake up the usual ideas about how people get close. They basically explore unique and sometimes weird ways that people form bonds, even though they do it in totally different settings, the elder sister stereotype for each instance is voiced by Hanazawa Kana.

Rin Kurenai kind of reminds me of Satou in that they are both a bit psychologically messed up, but have some sort of heart there.. both of them also feature pinkish hair* Other than those two characters being similar, these shows have each got their own set of a young girl with an older person relationship, that isn't quite normal.. The shows are both darker and feature some content that little kids should definitely not be exposed to. Main difference in these shows would be that the MCs are of opposite gender and Big order features magic and powers, while Happy sugar life does not.  read more

Both of these anime portray how fucked up the world can be/is. Bokura no is a little slower paced, but both show how people's psychologies are changed by their surroundings. Neither is for the light of heart.

Its very similar in every way. two different stories, but the catch is they are very similar in nature. Sankarea is a zombie girl, while happy sugar life is a young girl. but the topics carried, and the feeling of both of these anime is very much the same. its a dark story, a pedophile father, and a girl that turns into a zombie, and does horrific things when you get into the manga. its much the same, but the vibe you get when watching both is the same.... its dark and gruesome, and weighted with emotion. also, its written by the writers of Pupa. if you like  read more

Happy Sugar Life is somewhere between Mirai Nikki and Terror in Resonance. HSL could be looked at where Shio is the same Ishmael style protagonist that TiR has. Not exactly, since Shio is more of a macguffin in HSL's story. Terror focuses on people who feel outcast or alone lashing out to feel fulfilment similar to Satou, where they take characters that would normally be seen as morally black, then show things from their perspective without actually painting it grey. TiR does seem to show its protagonists more as vigilanties, but that could be chocked up to an unreliable narrator considering you make the call and you follow  read more

Somewhat dark relationship between lovely girl doing job servicing other people, while not genuinely feel what she express. The girl also lack of love and try to find it in somewhat unusual way. Both taking care a child to find the love she looking for. While HSL are more twisted, both offer similar feel in this aspect that i think worth checking for.
