Evil or Live

Both held in confinement and are abused.  

In prison (Rainbow) or prison-like conditions (In Evil or Live, the children are sent to an "Elite Reeducation Academy" (aka a "corrections" school where the classes are grueling drills and the food is abhorrent) for their internet addiction), the people are treated harshly by the overseers. Rainbow is a much more comradery anime with a leader uniting everyone together, whereas Evil or Live has a power dynamic/struggle within the school -- with both students and instructors. Rainbow is done much better than Evil or Live, though. 

Deadman Wonderland is also similar to this anime, and begins with the MC confined at a facility where they are pushed to their limits everyday for survival. Both the MCs start off as underdogs, but Deadman Wonderland has more intriguing plot points and twists, which makes it all the more interesting to watch.  

Similarities - Both MCs are sent to a prison - Both MCs are bullied/abused by inmates and guardes in the beginning - Both MCs eventually adapt to the inmate life and climb the hierarchal ladder - Both MCs want to take down the mastermind behind the prison Differences - Evil or Live is in a correction facility for internet addicted kids VS Stone Ocean is in a prison - MC in Evil or Live is a raging game addicted male teenager VS Stone Ocean MC is a betrayed female young adult - Evil or Live doesn't have special power attributes VS Stone Ocean has a special unique power called stands  

Based in one area But very enjoyable to watch if you like the story of inmates/captivated Humans 

Friendship is tested as well as the secret/hidden society element. In both anime, there is a start of despair that the characters harden up to make it through. 

art and shin are really similar and though the story line isnt exactly the same theyre both very deep and psychological.  

Both feature a snobby arrogant rich kid as a main character, and both focus on angsty rebellious teenagers being placed in a dangerous scenario where adults are in absolute control and they must fight against the powers to survive.  

Evil or live itself isnt structured as a survival game literally like D-game...but i canpromise it has survival, game, strategy, and a friendship formed for survival. Evil or Live doesn't have the sort of romannce vibe. 

Both of them start with a lame protagonist who finds himself in a tough and "unfair" world. Kaiji also has a prison arc which makes them even more similar. If you liked this show, you will definitely love Kaiji!  

A young man is thrown into an unbelievable circumstance. He starts off as a spineless coward, but he goes through a drastic change due to their extreme situations. 

Both involves characters whom were considered useless members of society that were condemned to suffer in hellish environment, where survival is the name of the game.  

it might take a while longer but a normal kid who looks like a loser becomes badass in his own unique way. they are not exactly the same though because durarara focuses on many other characters too which have their own unique and very very interesting stories while evil or live focuses on 1 protagonist.
