High school boys finding love. Music, and the band being it's commonality and they both fell in love because of a song.

Both anime depict the struggles a homosexual couple has to face in order to keep their relationship strong. Both of them last only one hour, if you liked one of them, be sure to check the other!

Both are visually great BL movies, the visuals being the main point of interest.

If you're looking for a good, subtle but obvious at the same time, boy's love narrative that isn't over the top and inherently sexual, both Yuri!!!on Ice and Doukyuusei can offer you that. Both of them have lovable characters, light hearted comedy and can at the same time play with your feelings like a toy.

Similar to Doukyuusei, this anime features: - two male protagonists who are very different from each other; one is smart, reserved, wealthy, and a bit of a loner, while the other is eccentric, lively, poor, and a bit of a troublemaker. The two of them are classmates, and they are both misunderstood. As a result of their opposite personalities and lifestyles, they foil one another and grow closer as the story progresses. - musical themes. The two male protagonists develop their friendship through their common passion for jazz music. - plenty of feels and romance. Unlike Doukyuusei, it's not shounen ai, but you can certainly view it  read more

-Shounen Ai about two guys in love -Both shows their relationship develop

Both of these Shounen Ai anime have a high school setting and there are instances of power imbalances in the relationships they feature. Perhaps Doukyuusei is a more refined portrayal of a coming-of-age high school romance, whereas Hitorijime My Hero takes on the more humorous and cliche approach. They both tackle the same type of story in different ways.

- Serious efforts in depicting same-sex relationships. - Out(ish) queer characters (Aoi Hana actually has coming out scenes to other people - friends and family; whereas in Doukyuusei it's more coming out to each other and to themselves.) - On screen kisses, not just insinuated. - Romance and drama in a single-sex high school. - Pastel colours and thin, faded lines. - Quiet, bookish, glasses character who is very much into people of the same gender. - 'Forbidden love' not in the LGBT sense (... without giving away too much.) Doukyuusei is very much focused on developing only the two main characters since it's time-limited as a movie, whereas Aoi Hana has  read more

Slow building relationships shown in a sweet way. Characters questioning their sexualities while falling in love with a schoolmate.

- Soft, muted colour palette - Drama portrayed in a similarly lighthearted (but not frivolous) way - Decidedly more genuine take on LBGT stories compared to other shows, though Dokyuusei is much more idealised with romance as the focus - Refreshingly twinkly music

This OVA is also shounen ai! It has a male protagonist who, similar to Sajou Rihito, is rather lonesome and troubled, especially after losing his beloved grandfather. In his state of grief, he goes to the ocean and “falls” into the water just as he remembers that he can’t swim. Miraculously, he is saved by a beautiful merman, who moves in with the boy and continues to save him in all sorts of ways… What this OVA and Doukyuusei especially have in common are their unique, artistic animation styles, and their utterly gripping and moving developments in both romance and drama.

These are both sweet and meaningful BL relationships. They had me crying after watching them (c" ತ,_ತ)

Tranquility. The animation mixed with the OST will put you to sleep with a smile on your face, and I mean that in the best way possible. Heaven Official's Blessing does get violent at times, but when it's peaceful, it's like watching a lullaby in an autumnal forest. And Classmates makes you feel like you're floating in space, watching the seasons change as the Earth turns, orbiting around the sun.

Boys falling in love at school threw one helping the other either by singing for choir or giving manga recommendations. Both very wholesome.

Even though one is clarified a BL and the other is just head cannon, both give the same, pleasant vibe and a feel-good series/movie.

These are both so fluffy. Caramel Honey is really short, but it is so cute and worth while.

- similar colour palette and pastel - both school setting - homosexual - both about two characters getting to know each other better (through music?)

Both are about trust in relationships and just very cute

Okay hear me out. Both have realistic depictions of romantic relationships between high school couples. There's bits of comedy in each (more so in Kareshi kanjojo) but i also think they have very similar art styles in that they draw from manga by dividing the screen into panels and animating bits and pieces instead of trying to show off. I think in kareshi kanajo that's more a budget thing than intentional but it still pays off and looks really beautiful but simple. Both shows are also really tender with their characters imo which makes you love them 10x more. They're really patient and the pacing  read more

Both short films featuring beautiful artwork and poetic romance.

Both are sweet, romantic-centric movies with strong slice-of-life elements, great animation, and a somewhat similar (though each are distinct) cinematographic style.

Sekaiichi Hatsukoi is a lot like Doukyuusei in that they're both about a first love between two men, and the difficulties the characters have coming to terms with the relationship, jealousy, and overcoming all of that. The main character's voice actor, Kusakabe Hikaru, even voices in Sekaiichi Hatsukoi, though not an overly major role. Overall it's rather cute, dramatic, and even frustrating at times, but definitely a very good shounen ai.

Shounen ai. Both of them. Doukyuusei is way underrated. Oh but if you watched loveless for just the backstory of ritsuka and stuff not for the love then...uh...sorry

There’s always a need for more good LGBT anime and these are two I found that handle the subject delicately and correctly. While Doukyuusei is much more a romance No. 6 shares themes of clashing ideals in romance and the tough fact of reality. Love is not easy and both of these anime show the side of a relationship that most other gay anime don’t. Feelings are not just smooth sailing and lovey dovey, things are constantly changing and you won’t always agree with each other’s views but when you truly care about someone you can find a way to make it work.

- one is a movie and the other is ona - wholesome shounen ai anime with little to no conflict - great animation - story-wise, wei kanjian erduo la is cuter while doukyuusei is a little bit more mature
