The world of man is coming to an end and the struggles are imminent. In the middle of such disarray, it takes a stronger demon to defeat the ones already present today. 'Shingeki no Kyojin' and 'God Eater' resembles a ying and yang where one dwells in the past while the other resides in the future. 'Shingeki no Kyojin' showcases a masterclass storytelling and unforgettable character interactions where one must work together in order to survive. The action and music stands out as much which is a credit to all the hardwork that has been established into the series. It is hard to fault something  read more

Both anime takes place in a setting where the world becomes a dystopian society overruled by an evil majority that gave birth to a new hope of mankind to counter attack this nefarious force with forbidden technology.

Both anime are based on fights against some new species that is kinda taking over the world.
report Recommended by animegirlism
Both have apocalyptic monsters who eat humans and the main characters have ways to defeat them. In both anime humans are reduced to living in fortified areas. The main character in both is very determined to defeat the monsters because of past trauma. If you like one of the anime its likely you'll like the other.

Reasons why they are similar: -Both happen in a post-apocalyptic world -Both the people live in walled city, because the outside is dangerous -Both have monsters that humans need to fight against -Both divide the characters in platoons to fight against the enemy
report Recommended by lcborella
Monsters plague the future, leaving the hero/heroines fighting against monsters that are set on destroying humanity yet there is the issue of losing oneself as everything unfolds. Both series are also action packed.

Stories about humans battling against aliens or monsters for survival are very common. Sometimes you want those aliens and monsters to have no motivation. They exist simply to battle against. Takt Op. Destiny and God Eater will fill that craving with all the trappings - an organization dedicated to saving humanity, destructive weapons, and hope for humanity. Maybe this simplicity is thanks to their video game origins.

Humanity's hubris and curiosity is the engineer of it's own downfall. Must then struggle to survive.

Both MCs have a trait that gives them high compatibility with Hundreds/God Eater, which happen to be the only weapons capable of killing Savages/Aragami. In both anime, the monsters have a 'core' that must be destroyed/removed to kill them. Both animes have mecha, action, and fighting in them

-Both anime have monsters that humans need to fight against -The MC have in common that their families died because they were killed by monsters

*Humanity is attacked by Intelligent Non sentient beasts with a specific weakness to a certain kind of Biotech weapon. *There is an organization that collects people who are the only ones capable of using said bioweapons. * It is largely about the members' struggles against the various beasts that come to invade. *Characters include the Respected Veteran, Sniper, Machine gunner(Protagonist in nobunagun, deuteragonist in God Eater), Spotter/Scout, The "Bad Boy" Veteran.

both anime feature humanity struggling against now human entities for survival

Similar to God Eater both plots have special weapons that can only be used by a selected few to fight monsters.

Both pass after the end of the world, and the main characters are very strong and have to kill the most diverse monsters

Fight against monsters. Have to be compatible with people or weapons to use them and fight. Special female and male MC that are more power Plot twists. just amazing

I'm surprised nobody has made this recommendation yet. We have a sci-fi world in the distant future, where humanity has been on the brink of extinction for long, thanks to creatures the humans have very little knowledge of. All that they know is that these creatures attack humans mercilessly, and that the must fight back in order to survive. Our dark haired MC, of course, is the key to saving humanity, which has survived this long by shutting itself off from the outside world. They also make use of tech that's made specially to kill these creatures in combat. You also get to witness completely unnecessary hints  read more

Similarities 1 Action packed full of gore blood thriller and horror 2 Both have 3D CGI animation 3 Intense action scenes 4 Both have a plot in which two species are trying to annihilate other and became dominant 5 similar setting and similar MC

both of course having this apocalyptic theme (end of the world). The MC's do everything they could to protect their allies and personally i think they both give a strong emotional sense of sacrifice if all hope seems lost they fight till the end in.

They have the similar vibes like Cyberpunk, set in the future and fun to watch

It is similar in many ways like both of them creature which are very dangerous to human. Killing monsters with weapons and skills and both have very cool & amazing weapons. Both have some gore moments. Both are action and sci-if. If you love gantz you will love god eater.

If you are looking a darker version of this sort of anime, then God Eater would be a good choice. Knight's and Magic / God Eater contains Beasts that needed to be slain otherwise they possess the threat to destroy the humanity. Each character has a weapon of their own and utilize it to destroy the enemies, the items that are left by them are used to create weapons for the humans to use. God Eater also contains a human enemy, which could potentially endanger their lives. There's an explanation of the backstory, how everything started so this could get you hooked if you're interested of knowing  read more

Both have: - Characters involved in cutting edge scientific research (writing academic papers). - Battles using powerful, experimental weapons that are freshly out from the labs. - Intense, flashy battles fought in teams.

Upon watching Scarlet Nexus, I got God Eater vibes. Both anime also have a similar premise and world building. > In both anime, the world is ravaged by man-eating monster > An agency is created to fight back against these monsters > There are platoons in which the fighters are placed in The formation of the main characters are also similar > Both feature a male protagonist and a female of the same/similar age who end up having their fates tied together (not romantically) Both anime also have a similar animation to it

-Both are about humans but not every human who use special arms to kill the enemy -Both has a lot of blood -Both have a sensation of horror sometimes -Both are very nice and a lot of action

Anime that explore more of a world and its people in the post-apocalypse than telling a story. Both protagonists are survivors with unique abilities who must fight against enemies that want to eat them.

Anime based on video games featuring a quiet protagonist capable of an ability few others have and fight against supernatural monsters

These animes are quite different and have different messaging. Something similar that caught my attention was the main characters Shiro (Gundam) and Lenka(god eater). Both have to gain the respect/trust as leaders of their misfit teammates with problems of their own, by proving themselves competent. Both anime do a good job at this.

God Eater and NieR are post-apocalyptic series based on storylines from games. There are some basic similarities in their premise: the fight for survival against a stronger enemy. Neither bring something new to this premise, but this isn't the standard for making an entertaining anime. What God Eater and NieR excel at is the animation. A-1 Pictures (NieR) and ufotable (God Eater) certainly did not cut corners with their animation and character design. Their effort really shine when it comes to action sequences. Action will always be superior in visual medium, but the source of Nier and God Eater are games so an anime adaptation  read more

Apocalyptic and post-apocalyptic fiction are popular subgenres of science fiction in anime. They offer an easy way to create a fictional world filled with conflict because everyone is trying to survive. This is the case with God Eater and Appleseed. Neither anime would be described as having intellectual themes and their storylines are not original. Instead, you watch them for the action. Anyone who enjoys apocalyptic and post-apocalyptic fiction with a heavy dose of action should consider this recommendation.

Both take place in the somewhat near future, in dystopian societies where the world is being destroyed by creatures (Aragami in God Eater, Shito/Angels in Evangelion) and weapons created from those creatures are used to fight against them.
report Recommended by Nezumi-Chibi
Both are set in the future, with a outside force going against the MC and his organization. In Guilty Crown its Funeral Parlor and God Eater it is well... the god eaters. Both MCs have generic hairstyles and wield a big-ass sword obviously compensating for something.

+ Characters that have the same powers/abilities as the enemy + MC becomes more powerful after being in the verge of death + Horrifying and Awesome !!! + Characters struggling to save humanity from a Parasites/Shinigami +Both have enemies that eat humans

Both anime have an apocalyptic environment where our characters struggle to survive against the human threat known as: -Aragami (God Eater) -BETA (Schwarzesmarken) * It is largely about the members' struggles against the various monsters that come to invade. * The action and music stands out as much which is a credit to all the hardwork that has been established into the series. * They use a not so usual weapons [ 'God Arcs' in GE & mecha's in Schwarzesmarken ] * Horrifying and Awesome !!
