Flashy animation, mecha fest with plenty of action packed sequences, political intrigue galore: Gundam 00 and Code Geass in a nutshell. Both titles focus on the efforts of the leads to change the world in one way or another, these efforts having quite drastic consequences along the way. Gundam 00 follow a group of characters and takes place in space as well as on Earth while Code Geass has a clear main character and takes nationalistic desires as the primary plot device, fans of one are likely to enjoy the other.

Both have very similar plots. Gundam 00 is more serious while Full Metal Panic! is comedy oriented.

Mechs and the hunt for freedom are common topics in this series.

Both series feature share many similar themes besides the obvious themes of mechas and space battle. Politics play pretty important roles in both series and is the catalyst for much of the events that occur although it may not be immediately apparent. The enemy isn't always clear and will shift so that entities once thought of as allies are in fact the real enemies and some enemies become allies. Complicated relationships such as love triangles, unrequited love, and betrayal play a fairly central role. Both series also feature at least one songstress that is capable of reaching the star pilot through song even at great  read more

they are both about changing the world and both use mechas as a tool to achieve this goal... although code geass is smarter and has a genius protagonist, gundam offers loads of action and amazing mecha fights

Both are a fun series with a grup of young people piloting badass Robots, which fights the world. Both have that that "autoparody" feel into it, with Gundam 00 being a little bit more serious in few aspects :)

Following blind orders, being in the future, meaningless fighting amoung ourselves, and the order of power through a type of "feudalism". Both these anime are immensely similar in those ways

G-Tekketsu has the concept of child soldiers being used as a very prominent plot point. This idea has been touched upon since the very first Gundam series but season 1 of 00 was the first to use it prominently and openly. In 00, the protagonist used to be a child soldier, part of a religious fundamentalist group called KPSA, and is now part of a different group called Celestial Being who use armed force to pursue a world without war and therefore a world where children do not have to be soldiers like he was. In G-Tekketsu, the main characters are all child soldiers/slaves working for private  read more

Both are mechas animes with cool characters and have greats fights with nice animation. Also, Both begin with a small group of people struggling against a huge enemy army.

Both anime are about an armed organization in a politically fractured world. Gundam 00 was the first Gundam series set in the Anno Domini era instead of a non-descript future timeline, only a mere 300 years on. While humans have gotten closer to uniting, they haven't got there yet. The series even namedrops a couple of real life terrorist organizations. Eureka Seven AO, in contrast to its predecessor's alien setting, is a work of alternate history. Instead of the wonderous and fantastic world building Eureka Seven was known for, AO's world is like our own; divided, not united. Some countries that exist in its world do not  read more

Believe it or not, Neon Genesis Evangelion is basically the predecessor to all the meccha animes ever made in history that pretty much influenced the whole concept of Mecchas . Watching Neon Genesis: Evangelion is a must if your going to watch this anime. So don't hesitate, Both are a remarkable series that has great characters, great storyline, and the whole concept of mecchas.

The importance of political events in both series made them very similar in theme. Both deals with individuals that are trying to change the society they are living in. And of course, in terms of "epicness" both Gundam 00 and LoGH are certainly not lacking. With every single episode taking your breath away, both are must-watch for hardcore SF lovers...

Both anime are about very small group of outcasts on a single ship with advanced (super?)mecha against entire world. The reason of existence for those groups is also deeper than it seems (althought not the same)

They both have a secret organization trying to intervene in war. They also both have characters from the Middle East that were war children.

The anime which led me to this one. It's a very hard decision for me to choose which Gundam series I enjoyed more so... why not both? I reccomend Gundam SEED if you liked 00, because they're quite similar in the fact that the art, characters, music, and story were both on the "god-like" level. Ingenious.... masterpiece... Finding words to praise both these anime is really quite difficult XD

Setsuna is just a new version of Heero Yuy!

If you liked Moriarty the Patriot's story structure (a team of pretty boys taking on missions with the ultimate goal being to change the world), then you'll love Gundam 00. It's got crazy strategies for the boys to pull off, nail-biting action scenes, a larger cast of fun characters, and just a smidge of homoeroticism. The mecha might put some people off, but the robots are integral in getting the guys to struggle and grow as characters, which is absolutely the fun part. (Also, like, look at Albert. Now look at Lockon. They could be twins.) (No you don't need to watch any other Gundam shows  read more

MC's are similar as well as their relationship with the female pacifists. Great mecha action as well as drama, non mecha action, suspense, and intensity throughout the story. This is another show to add!

Emiya Kiritsugu and Setsuna F Seiei are similar in character, personality, and a desire to achieve world peace by any means necessary (Emiya Kiritsugu-Saber and Holy Grail and Setsuna F. Seiei-Gundam and Celestial Being arm intervention)

If you like Gundam 00 even Code Geass, try Guilty Crown as well even if you're also big in to Sci Fi and Mechas as well. Other than just mechas, supernatural powers are also involved including drama, interactions, romance, twists, and revelations that will shock the whole story to another level which you'll never forget for your entire life.

Layfon reminded me a lot of Setsuna and Sharnid reminded me of Lockon

What do these series have in common? Deconstruction? Check Emo and Angsty Characters? Check Saving the world by shouldering the burden? Check Wild Ride? Check

Both have a common element in which the main characters use their overpowered mechas to intervene in conflicts. Dancougar Nova is more episodic and comedic, with super robot action, while Gundam 00 focuses more on military drama, the relationships between the various factions, and features more real robot action.

This about the God. Setsuna is not believing God Exist while Touma has a bad luck because of his Imagine Breaker

Both of them you could find fun in the series. Just some of the masterpieces.

Political motives, violent battles, and deep inter-personal relationships are the core of both series. Gundam 00 may well have been a direct inspiration for the story of 86, considering how many similar themes and story telling tools can be found in the two... yet both are unique in both plot and tone. Furthermore, there is overlap in the types of characters that make up the main cast: The noble lady changed by war, the battle hardened combat-junkie, the joking friend, and of course; a lovable robot companion.

The Phantom Thieves are like the Celestial Being but with a mild immorality that still performs acts that most victims or people find it questionable and must by justified as righteous. The MCs are similar in terms of personality and goal to change the world as well as their companions and powers.

JUNK WARRIOR! GUNDAM EXIA! 5Ds was made around the time 00 aired and you can see the obvious similarities in both shows. 00 is purely mature whereas 5ds is partly mature. Yusei and Setsuna are alike as well as their gang and rival. 5ds cast and CB fight to save the day to battle an ancient conspiracy organization who hide behind the scenes to take down the world.

Both shows are set on sci fi setting and Setsuna F Seiei and Hei are on daily missions that will lead to something far greater than what they are achieving.

Both deconstruct their respective genre to portray what it is like to have consequences to portray realism.

Story involves one man army characters with powerful weapons fighting good characters to evil characters. Almost all of the Seiyuu in both shows are involved. Plot twists unravel as the main antagonist reveal its true colors.

Both series deals with a futuristic world where the use of mecha has become common as part of the military. As such, both series contains military themes involving many of the characters. Both series has strong female protagonists as well as dominant male protagonist who are skilled with firearms and what they do. Both series contain a lot of action scenes, drama, some comedy, and at the same time emotional factors as the episodes drags on. There is also a background mystery involving the series and its characters especially regarding some of their past events. Both series also contains violence that details the more science fiction setting as  read more

Both of those series uses terrorism and international war context to set the plot and the mecha is one of the central element of the series. Also the everyday life of the protagonists is an important part of those two series.

Both share some staff and have similar futuristic world-war like scenes. The main difference, of course, is that Super Robot Wars has Super Robots.

Like Blassreiter, Gundam 00 has a lot of action and is a fast paste anime. Both animes are also very serious and have plot twist that you would never expect.

Gundam and Space Battleship Yamato are two iconic space opera franchises that have a dedicated fanbase. Gundam is often considered an intimidating franchise to start, but Gundam 00 is a separate timeline meant to reach new fans. Space Battleship Yamato 2199 is a remake of the original series from the 1970s meant for a modern audience. Celestial Being (Gundam 00) and the Yamato's crew are pursuing their missions in the name of peace, but must use force to accomplish it. This philosophical contradiction makes for interesting tensions and conflicts between characters. Warfare, politics, and hard science fiction are central to these series. What more could  read more

Both Mobile Suit Gunadm 00, and Outlaw Star have the meccha type anime and plot takes place in mostly from a galaxy far far away in outer space, =P. Not really but you get the whole concept that both animes pretty much takes place outside the world and use Mecchas. Anyways, these two animes made me realize you don't really have to be a hardcore meccha anime fan or a casual meccha anime person to be honest, but it's basically watchable to any people who are into anime in general. It's amazing to see the that Mobile Gundam 00 has more actiona packed and more Mecchas,  read more

Nanoha StrikerS and Gundam 00 are both sci-fi series that combine political intrigue with epic battles.

Just like Gundam Wing, both the MCs are similar due to having a stoic personality, being in the band of gundams, and trained to become hardened soldiers. Both shows involve mecha action, drama, and intensity.

Fight to change the world (Death Note-Psychological and Gundam 00-Physical and Mecha), light and dark moments, tragedy, twists, and similar outcomes and conclusions

Main group fighting to end wars with different objective (Ptolemy from Celestial Being whose role is to end armed conflicts whereas Freeden from Vulture fights to end the conflict between Earth and Colonies), group of characters fighting in Gundams, and a mysterious force behind the scenes are trying to get in the way.

In Gundam 00, the crew all have a secret identity. Whereas in Senki Zesshou Symphogear also have a secret identity. Also about protecting the world.

While the second season of Gundam 00 is more comparable to Zeta Gundam in terms of plot, it's the first season of Gundam 00 that really captures the feel of Zeta Gundam. The first season of Gundam 00 is very dark like Zeta Gundam, with the the second half of Gundam 00's first season being similarly dark and ruthless like Zeta Gundam's last quarter. And both also end on a cliffhanger, leaving it open to a another season/sequel to complete the story.
