Karakuri no Kimi

Oldschool anime with samurai/ninja theme. Lots of action, bizarre ninjas and overpowered protagonist. Both titles contain lots of ultra violence and gore 

the simmilarity lies in the animation, especially the male face drawings, and both takes place in the ( fictional) tokugawa era by storyline , puppet princess is more enjoyable though! 

Both shows feature marionette puppets and have dark undertones, backstories, and themes to them. There is some dark comedy laced in both shows as well. 

A wandering samurai helps a princess, killing lots of shinobi along the way. The same unique 90's art style is prevalent, and the action is similar, although Ninja Scroll has more polish. Note this is a series based on a movie by the same name-both are good/relevant. 

Ninja Scroll is Karakuri no Kimi taken to the next level; lots more action and weird ninja abilities, and definitely more blood and gore. While things in Puppet Princess tend to look like porcupines - sharp extrusions everywhere, you know what I mean - they don't in Ninja Scroll, they do share the garish colors though, which is not a bad thing if you're wondering. 

Simmilar main character -girl fighting against evil- same animation, highly recommended if you like anime retro. 

Similiar style of anime as far as artwork and level of action. 

In both the king is killed and the princess is ejected from the kingdom but the princess returns for revenge with some help from her friends.
