This review is for first two seasons.

- Neutral-negative (kinda):
1. Start of anime is not so likeable to everyone, because people are not used to it.. as it is mostly comedy, troll mode, world exploring..

- Neutral-positive(kinda):
1. Power levels and power scaling is simple to understand
2. Worldbuilding is good enough
3. Story is decent

... - Positive (kinda):
1. Character development (from simple "little" mortal guy from mountains without family who uses tricks to survive and mostly thinks about himself but is overall good person to person who is over time learning about cruel world around him, which forces him to make sacrifices through which he builds strength and character)
2. Pet is in top 5 of all anime I watched (few hundred of them)
3. I am just fan of pure parental type of love between characters like 'Bai Xiaochun' (main character) and 'Li Qinghou'
4. Fights (as well as fight spirit of mc) after episode where main character goes little bit crazy in self sacrifice are pretty good

My overall impression and other:
1. I remember I stopped watching after half episode first time around, because it didn't click with me, then after some time (few months) I came back to continue where I stopped as I had nothing else to watch and now it is one of my favorite anime..
2. I read negative reviews before writing this and I could explain almost all their thoughts but it is not worth time.. as they just don't analyze why is something the way it is.. as a a story, or why it is shown that way in anime. And some just need to read what genre is anime before they start watching so they don't get surprised by overall mood and tempo as main character is full troll most of the time.
3. Main character reminds me of 'Wei Wuxian' ('Mo Dao Zu Shi', similar troll mode and character development) and little bit of 'Eren Yeager' ('Attack on Titan', same tenacity when they fight) and few others..
4. I'll give 10/10 same as 'Mo Dao Zu Shi' for comparison, even though it is lesser quality but still fun to watch

For non-Xianxia novel fan:

It's a fair descent anime, could do better. I'm on ep 13 currently, it was just passing through it. I'm a huge fan of "A Will Eternal" novel, so don't expect a good marks from me. You know how animation production works: they cut corners, lack of budget and f-up the original piece. But, if you don't care all that, it is an enjoyable piece.


For fellow enlightened Daoist:

DO NOT EXPECT MUCH!
Even the character building is different, filled with samples and stupid fast pace storyline. Bai Xiaochun in this animated series is somewhat simplistically dumb, uncollected, undecisive and resolve to cringey ... scream to gain strength like some sh*tty cliché character...!

Imagine they even tried to insert epic music while he was walking with some sh*tty explosions in the background as he was walking slowly, looking dumb af towards an enemy. And of course, he then off to some cringed screaming and suddenly became invisible!!!

IT'S THAT F*CKING SH*t, STUPIDLY CRINGED, OVER-DRAMATIC AND LOW HOW HE WOULD BE PORTRAYED!!!

If you are looking for some amazing world building with dashing, nonchalant, yet goofy character building of the MC, Just don't! Leave...

It's a series of pathetically try-hard comedy/cringe episodes.

I tried to tolerate the fast pacing plots, changing storyline but the character building failure is too much for me.

I will leave it at that... Sigh... With a snap of a finger, they, the animators, reduced our patriarch's character to ashes... Shame... Shame...

This is hard to watch.

The protagonist is the definition of gary sue - he's a genius for no real reason, always succeeds vs people who trained for years because plot, people help him either because he bugs them enough or because they are somehow put in his debt by plot. He never encounters real adversity, because he always comes out on top anyway with little struggle and absolutely 0 personal cost.

It's a lesson in how not to do "Show, don't tell" - so so so so much is glossed over, explained (if at all) in a line of dialog. Maybe a 15s flashback if lucky.

the ... animation is so n so. The backgrounds are probably the better part of the anime.

the story is brought down by the gary sue protagonist - up till now it doesn't seem to be really going nowhere, it's more of a hero's journey without villains or struggle.

the chinese dub and the audio is kinda atrocious - it's not as bad as some american one i guess, but it's far far far from japanese stuff.

All in all, i would not advise other people to watch it, instead play amazing cultivation simulator.
