Both are about working at a job, and about service to others while the characters build their relationships with their colleagues. Hanasaku Iroha is about teenage girls and how they deal professionally to make an inn work, Servant x Service is about college graduates who just became civil servants.
From both series, there's a main protagonist who tries to get used to their new environment while working at their jobs. Coming from a different background, they are inexperienced at first but learns to adjust with other characters.
Both series has a slice of life feeling to them with realism to them. However, Servant x Service plays more on comedy while Hanasaku Iroha has more of a serious mood. Regardless though, both series' main protagonist have to work to earn their earnings and gains experience both socially and professionally.
