Watch this OR brotherhood not both unless you really want to
Brotherhood is the remake of this one
But to answer your question, I recommend subs in general but that’s just me

Well, if you actually enjoy dubs, then it should be a no-brainer, it's well known to be top tier.

Fma is really good dub, if you want the entire story watch this then brotherhood, brotherhood skips a lot of plot points because they already covered the earlier arcs in the original series.

FMA has pretty good dubs and I don't like many English dubbed anime. when I started watching Shippuden subs I immediately preferred the voice acting over the English dub.

try both, personally I prefer dubbed.

Also I disagree with the guy who said not to watch both. Watching this before Brotherhood means you get the best from both series' (the darkness, characters, and reveals from FMA and the plot itself which is both better and far different in FMAB)

It's not a 1:1 remake, this series gives more depth to the early stuff and FMAB completely splits away story wise by episode 12-13

Yes, this right here. Plus, Brotherhood skips a chapter, so it makes the most sense to watch the original until the pacing in Brotherhood slows down. It starts up very fast, almost like it believes the viewers are coming to it from the original. Or at the very least, the manga.

I forgot the order, but there is a certain amount of episodes of the original that you watch that essentially have the "better paced" version of the beginning of Brotherhood.

I watched both in dub, but it really does just come down to preference. Maybe watch a trailer or two or a scene or two in dub and sub and see which one you like more. I'd watch all of 2003 and the wrap up movie first because it's still really good and lets you appreciate how much better Brotherhood's second half is. That's way I watched it, anyway

every anime-watcher is going to be biased towards their favored way of watching. for me, i’m a dub-watcher and so almost always start off watching shows dubbed. however, no matter what your preference fullmetal has an absolutely FANTASTIC dub. i would 1000% recommend you watch it in dub, both versions of it.
though, i would preface that by suggesting you watch the ‘03 series first. as it branches off from the manga about halfway through, it kinda’ ends up becoming its own story since they continued after it caught up to where the manga was at the time. throw in the first movie too, ‘the conqueror of shamballa’! then finish with brotherhood, which is truer to the actual storyline. whatever you choose, i’m sure you won’t be disappointed!
