Both series share a similar appeal in that their stories follow descendants of youkai. As such we are introduced to the world of the supernatural. They are also action-oriented series that are geared for the shounen demographic.

Nuramago and Ao no Exorcist both feature demons that try hard to be the good guys. Also, both main characters are offspring of some evil leader (Rin in Ao no Exorcist is the son of satan, Rikuo in Nuramago is the grandson of the Supreme Commander of youkai).
Both are shonen battle mangas.
