Both of the series have a similar battle system JoJo has "Stand" while Shaman King has "Guardian Ghost" or "Soul Control" , both of the series are adventurous although JoJos adventure might be a different than what you think. The fights are well thought out and hardly little or no use of Nakama. Shaman King may start off a bit slow but once it gets into action you'll be hooke. Both of these series are Underrated and very good battle Shounen that are done right

It's clear to see that Shaman King was highly inspired by JoJo. Both series share similar concept of "fighting spirits" - supernatural creatures that are connected with their users and must protect them - and very intense battles between them. However, in SK everyone can choose whatever spirit they want, in JoJo each can have only one "stand", and their abilities aren't determined by their users. Complex and intense plot merges with occasional comedy elements (although, JoJo humor is more mature). Japanese protagonists are surrounded by multinational characters and there are lots of interactions of different cultures and the language barrier is completely omitted.

I made an anime recommendation for the newer adaptations of both of these as well. I’ve read all of the first four parts of JoJo and some of the fifth, and I’m currently reading Shaman King, but Shaman King, from what I’ve read, reminds me a lot of JoJo, especially the third part. Both have similar fighting systems, and there’s just a lot that’s similar between the two. It’s easy to see that Hiroyuki Takei was heavily inspired by Hirohiko Araki. If you liked JoJo, especially Part 3, I’d have to recommend Shaman King. It’s the closest thing to JoJo aside from Hunter x Hunter that   read more
