They are both are for a more mature shoujo audience and don't have the typical "I love him, he's so hot, I'm so dumb, please love me, haha I'm only good for comedic relief and am super thick skulled" heroines. Although they have different plots and characters are very different, they both give off the same feeling that the love the main characters have is not some flimsy love, but yes they are imperfect loves (especially in Kirai). Mars touches darker subjects, but Kirai touches, well, touchy subjects (like trust issues, moving forward in your life, etc.) but both are really good stories with complex
